Yes, sandbags are used for supported.  You would be surprised at the
number of people who, even with support can't hit a consistent shot
group.  These are ones who have never learned the basics of
marksmanship.  Although they can put lead downrange, any meeting between
the round and the intended target seems to be purely coincidental.  In
theory, someone who fails to zero and qualify, even after retraining and
retesting could be eliminated from the Army.  In practice, we send them
over and over again until they finally pass.

Different service, different requirements.  Not everyone will be able to
fire expert, but everyone should meet at least minimum requirements.  I
always aimed for the top end of the scale myself.  Sometimes I achieved
it, sometimes not, but I kept trying.

Never got to fire any of those.  I did fire the M16A1 on full automatic
(with bipod), M203 grenade launcer (practice rounds filled with orange
powder only and not live rounds), M60 machine gun, and LAW (Light
Antitank Weapon with subcaliber ammunition).  I didn't get to play with
the other fully automatic weapons.  I also never got to throw a live
granade as the Fort Leonard Wood grenade range was shut down so that EOD
could clear out old dud rounds that were out there.

      Title: Fiery Barbecued Venison
 Categories: Meats
      Yield: 4 servings

      4    Venison steaks or medallions
           -(about 4 oz. per portion)
      2 ts Paprika
      1 ts Chili powder
      1 ts Ground cumin
      1 ts Ground coriander (cilantro)
      1 ts Sugar
      1 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Dry mustard powder
    1/2 ts Dried thyme leaves
    1/2 ts Good curry powder
    1/2 ts Cayenne

MMMMM------------------CORIANDER AVACADO CREAM-----------------------
    1/2    Avacado (~ 4 tablespoon)
      3 tb Sour cream
      2 tb Fresh chopped coriander
    1/2 ts Grated lime peel
      4 dr Tabasco sauce
           Salt
           Pepper
           Olive oil for basting

  This Southwestern-style dish from the Cervena venison people packs an
  intense flavor punch.

  To make the avacado cream, place all ingredients in a processor or
  blender and blend until smooth.

  Combine all the meat spices in a large bowl. Place the venison in the
  bowl and mix to coat well. Brush off excess coating and let stand 1
  hour.

  Heat the barbecue grill; oil the grill.

  Brown venison well over high heat, turning often and basting lightly
  with olive oil. When done to your taste, remove from grill, cover
  with foil and let stand about 5 minutes; serve with coriander cream.
