Yes, and we couldn't do much otherwise as we were in HI.  We couldn't
attend all the family events that were held in AZ--picnics, holiday
parties, etc so just had to rely on e-mail and a few phone calls from
the rear detachment folks for information.  Even then, as Deborah had
put the address of a friend in AZ as the contact person, we had to let
them know we wanted to be included in the information dissemination as
well. I don't think they expected to deal with a soldier who had a
parent on active duty elsewhere. (G)

I can imagine the welcome. Hopefully he's getting good treatment thru
either the VA or military; we've heard horror stories about the ones
falling thru the cracks.

He still thinks she's pretty special. We were up to his parents (my
sister) for Thanksgiving the year before we went to HI; he was 3 at the
time.  He and Deborah had fun "stealing" grapes out of each other's
fruit salads.  She's more of an aunt to him than cousin because of the
age difference (17 years) but still can relate on his level quite well.
