All you really need is something that you could tuck in a pocket (as
long as the clothes you wear have pockets), or in a little pouch (worn
around neck or beltlike)... or tucked in a shoe pocket...  I cut way
back on how much I carried when even a regular-size wallet seemed to
weigh too much after a few minutes of carrying it around.  I've got a
few more bits now, but it still isn't as much as it used to be usually. 
At most, I carry (in one hand) my little wallet (from middle finger), my
keys (from little finger), and my datebook and phone (in the palm). 
When I'm wearing a jacket or coat with pockets, it all goes into the
pockets..  :)  My dresses don't have pockets...  :(

I like to buy local, too, although I often settle for semi-local.  I get
all my pharmacy stuff from Wegmans... around here, they are essentially
local..  ;)  Years ago, I found that they were just about the least
expensive place to fill scripts, and have stayed with them since. 
During growing season, we get local produce at Wegmans, too...  :)

Other than pharmacy and groceries, I'm not much of a shopper, though. :)
