Well, when you've got a bunch of rednecks around you driving their oversized
4x4s, blasting country music and yee-hawing (no, not being stereotypical-there
ARE too many of those here...it gets worse as you head east into the deep
'hollar' country of the Appalachians...), anyone trying to find anything
related to "white people" gets noticed.

However, saying that, there is a sushi bar here called Sushi Blues, but they
are open odd hours.  But the guy who runs the place is a real sushi chef who
"escaped from New York like Snake Plesdin [sp!]".  There are a few other
examples of "snobbery" here, but I've never known any to visit them.  There is
a small coffeehouse downtown that Maura and I like, but we mainly go there for
the good food since neither of us drink coffee.

Johnson City (specifically the entire Tri-Cities area) got on some famous list
of "top places to live" and even since the last time I lived here about three
years ago, it's grown.  Although it's very humorous for me to hear the locals
complain about the "half-hour rush hour" and the "horrible" traffic here.  I
can get on the eastbound (read: southbound - it's really weird how they did the
directions on I-26) freeway and be at my wife's work, about 6 miles from here,
in about five minutes.  When I lived in Kennesaw, Georgia, it took me 45
minutes to go four miles.

The drivers here just plain don't use their turn signals.  Other than that,
it's pretty safe driving around here.  At least they don't drive 90 miles an
hour as an average speed on the freeway-they mainly observe the 55 MPH speed
limit on the interstate through town.

Yum, that sounds really good.  I've not had caribou before-is it just another
type of venison (silly question)?

That does sound good on toast.  My wife thinks I'm weird because I love peanut
butter on toast.

I've been told that also; my friend told me it's like cooking turkey burger on
a grill.  You don't do it for long or else you have a charcoal hockey puck on
your plate!
