Especially with the volume here now.   
 
Replies tend to change subjects drastically after a very few 
generations.  But some Subjects hang on forever now, and have 
absolutely nothing to do with the Subject.  Even messages that pick 
out one specific quote to write about use the old, unrelated Subject. 

There are currently ninety-seven [97] "BlueWave" messages here 
on Doc's BBS.

It's kind of like saying in a conversation "Remember that horse we 
killed?" and then talking about the latest issue of a hit TV series.   
It leaves one thinking "horse _we_ killed?  Uhhh..." and saying 
"Wait, wait!  What's that about a horse?"

I always liked Echo Rule Two [2], quote:  "Avoid excessive quoting. 
Try to quote enough of the message so that the person you are 
responding to understands the reply. Change the subject line when it 
no longer applies to the message."     

I will try to go back to my old adherence to the rule.

I am reminded of the current boat load of messages with the word 
"Picnic" in the Subject, but no mention of the Picnic in the message. 
 
When I hosted a Picnic it bothered me to have to read every line of 
those messages so I wouldn't miss some important bit about my upcoming 
Picnic.

But I can live with it, as I like the folks here so much.   [g]

P.S.  I hope I'm not breaking the [unwritten?] rule about commenting 
to a Moderator.  I'm not exactly sure how it goes anymore.  I apologize 
if I did make a gaff.
