When was that. I saw my first bare boobs in N-G in 1948. There were adverts for
a car just like my grandfather's (1948 Ford).

National Geographic is currently #10 on Ad Age's "A-List" for magazines. I
didn't dig deep enough on Google to discern when N-G first accepted adverts.

Blondie is too, too, too wholesome. Although I remember (again, from my
sniggering schoolboy days) a few of those "Tijuana Bibles" featuring Blondie
and Herb Woodley, et al. Also Brenda Starr - although she was plenty hot
without the behind-the-barn stuff of the eight-pagers. I don't have a clear
memory of Professor Burrd's daughter so have no idea why you would consider her
hot.

The duck went from Air Pirate Funnies #1 to the Freep to National Lampoon and
finally to Playboy. dirtyduck.com will give you only a single page featuring
Dirty Duck and his assistant Weevil.

Been a while since I had one but my memory says pastry dough. Although I
suppose, being an Italian thing pizza or other flat-bread dough might have been
used. 

Research through (literally) hundreds of calzone formulae reveals that you are
correct, once again. 

Pastry or tortilla dough is used for the Latino cousin of calzone, empanadas.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Calzone Alla Napoletana
 Categories: Appetizers, Pork, Breads, Cheese
      Yield: 6 servings
 
      1    Recipe pizza dough
           Oil
    1/2 lb Mozzarella cheese; diced
    1/4 lb Prosciutto; cut in slivers
           +=OR=+
    1/4 lb Boiled ham; cut in slivers
    1/4 lb Soft italian salami; cut in
           - slivers
      1 c  Tomatoes; peel/chop/drain
           Oregano and/or Basil
           Fresh ground pepper
      6 ts Romano cheese; fresh grated
 
  After the dough has risen, punch down and divide into 6
  balls. Form each ball into a circle about 1/4" thick.
  Brush lightly with oil and place equal amounts of the
  remaining ingredients in the center of each circle. Fold
  the dough over, sealing each calzone with oil and place on
  a greased baking sheet. Bake in a thoroughly preheated
  400øF oven for about 30 minutes, or until well browned.
  
  Serves 6.
