The other factor is that the although the chains might take great pains
to perfect a recipe for their products, they are not capable of
instilling the same care in preparation of the product into their

their selection of best ingredients, but their years of experience into

      Title: Garden Garlic And New Potato Soup
 Categories: Low fat, Soup, Posted
      Yield: 4 Servings
 
MMMMM----------------------------SOUP---------------------------------
      2    Heads fresh garlic
      1 lb New potatoes
      2    Branches thyme
      1    Bay leaf
      2 T  Chopped parsley
           Salt (to taste)
  1 1/2 qt Water

MMMMM--------------------------GARNISH-------------------------------
           Sprigs of basil,
           Dill, or
           Lovage for garnish
           Pepper
 
  This is mostly the recipe in the Savory Way (minus the 2T butter, of
  course).  We really liked this soup.  It is very very garlicky (which
  I think is a plus, your milage may vary).  The fun thing about this
  soup for us was that many things in it came from our garden.
  
  Thinly slice the cloves of garlic from the two heads (might want to
  peel'm first.)
  
  Quarter the potatoes, and slice the quarters into 1/4" slices.
  
  Put all the soup ingredients into a pot, and bring to a boil.  Simmer
  for 45 minutes, or until potatoes are cooked.
  
  Adjust the seasonings (you may have to add salt), and smash some of
  the potatoes against the side of the pot with a spoon if you want
  thicker broth.
  
  Serve garnished with basil (or whichever herb you've chosen) and lots
  of pepper.
  The instructions say that this soup also works with dried garlic (the
  usual way you buy garlic bulbs) and regular potatoes.
  
  Hope you enjoy this as much as we did!
