I'm not sure but I do know that until 1933 there are was only a
native summer fishing camp here and no year round inhabitants. Then
we discovered gold and started a mining camp. There are no sense of
permanence until 1967 when we became the territorial capital. The
(gravel) highway to Yellowknife was completed in 1967 and the first
building over three stories high and that had an elevator was also
completed that year.

When I arrived in YK in 1980 there were 3 traffic lights along the
main street and 4 quite new high rises.

And 28 bars. I know there were that many of them as I visited all of
them between noon and midnight the first Saturday I was there.

Another stinky tofu discovery:

MMMMM-----Meal-Master - formatted by MMCONV  2.10

     Title: My Own Red Bean Curd Marinated Fried Chicken 
Categories: Chicken, Tofu, Asian
  Servings: 4

      1 Kg Chicken pieces
    1/2    jar of red fermented
           bean curd
    1/2 c  sugar

Marinate the chicken pieces with the red fermented Bean curd and
sugar and leave it to marinate for at least 4 hours. (Preferably do
this step a day before you want to cook this dish)

Heat up the wok or deep Frying Pan (whichever more convenient to
you) or if you have a Deep Fryer , you can use that too) Pour in the
Vegetable/Cooking/palm oil wait for the oil to be heated up, if
you wan to know if the oil is ready for you to deep fried the
chicken, use a wooden spoon/chopstick, put it inside the oil and if
you see bubbles on the spoon or chopstick, that means you can start
putting you chicken in the oil to fry.

Do not fry all the chicken at one time separate t out to 2-3 times.

Fry the chicken till it cooked and you can take it out and serve.

To make it more tastier, get a bottle of Thai Sweet chilli sauce as
a dip.
