We have and like the Knorr veggie cubes.  I don't think I've ever seen
pork ones -- but then we have a supply of "essence of pork" in little
containers in the freezer as a byproduct of pork roasts done in the
oven.

I watch a little bit of Food Network.  Gail watches a lot more.  There
are many shows by cooks and chefs that do not rely on processed foods
(e.g. canned soups).  Whether they are cooking in a style you are
interested in is another matter.  Not many of them cure their own bacon,
capicola, etc.  There are times when we think that you would have
enjoyed cooking as done in first half of the 20th century -- if not
earlier:-}}  (I mean that as a compliment).


MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Garlic Soup
 Categories: Soup, Appetizer, Vegetarian
      Yield: 6 servings
 
  1 1/2 qt Water
      4    Potatoes, diced
      1    Carrot, diced
      2    Celery stalks, diced
      1    Onion, diced
      2 lg Bulbs garlic, peeled
    1/2 ts Thyme
      1 ds Cayenne
           Salt to taste
 
  Bring water to a boil.  Add vegetables, garlic & spices.  Cook over
  medium heat for 20 to 30 minutes.  Puree & serve.
