I am off all medications except the cough stuff and a natural
diuretic. I feel somewhat better and can walk a couple miles
if I stop to huff and puff every block or two. And I am
recovering from the problems caused by the ACE inhibitors.
Pretty much every time I have taken medicine, except possibly
antibiotics in the case of severe infection, and the phenytoin
in the case of postoperative seizures, the side effects have
been at least as bad as the disease.

Independently, taste-buddingly ghastly, or just totally
unlike what they were supposed to be? If you closed your eyes
and refused to believe that these were pancakes, or chili, or
mashed potatoes, could the food be appreciated on its own as
anything more than calories?

Not likely. United, which has signed agreements to purchase
25 787s and 25 A350s (great fleet commonality here), will protect
me, as it needs me to keep its cash flow going.

I have eaten an average of less than 1 oz of meat a day for several
days now. Half of it in the form of a Big Mac that I had last night
when I couldn't stand it any more. Prior to that, yesterday I ate 2
handfuls of cashews and a stale granola bar; the day before 1 handful
of cashews and a stale granola bar. I've just not had time to eat.

I could have eaten 5 Big Macs, I was so hungry. And they're not all
that good. Aside to those who would know - I was charged $4.19 for
the one sandwich - is that the standard price? If so, I'd much
rather have had 1/4 of a steak for that amount of money.

Spitzbergen, by a fair margin. Interestingly, my friend Patricia and
I were talking about taking a field trip together there; she knows
me pretty well in some ways (we are just friends, though, for a
couple of reasons) but not in others - her last e-mail inquiry on this
was whether I could handle a .30-06 - I said, sure, but I'm not so
certain I could hit the broad side of a polar bear. Apparently the
local law dictates that one carry a weapon of that power or more when
outside the city limits of Longyearbyen. According to her, "sadly
those beautiful bears consider humans to be food, as we do them."
I replied that probably the cost of a firearms-savvy guide would be
included in the rental of a dog team.

By the way, why would one, however toffee-nosed, want to find the
Aurora Australis via Norway?

      Title: Norwegian Rye Bread ABM
 Categories: Cyberealm, Breads
      Yield: 1 loaf

  2 1/2 ts Yeast
  1 2/3 c  Bread flour
  1 3/4 c  Rye flour
      5 tb Whole wheat flour
  2 2/3 ts Caraway seeds
    1/3 ts Salt
  2 1/2 tb Butter
      6 tb Molasses
      1 c  Water

  All ingredients should be at room temperature before starting. Add the
  ingredients in the order listed. Select "white bread", and press
  "start".
