==================
Hi Carol,

 > CS> (old message, catching up)
 CS> >
 > I have the feeling I'm always doing that in something or other. (G)

CS> Here too! Been busy with MRI's and such. Yup, it's officially 4 now.
CS> Matched sets in upper and lower. Good news is Doc agrees we can wait
CS> to operate as there is no danger of loss of function (or no additional
CS> loss) just now. Monitor and it can wait.

Good that no surgery is needed now, bad in that how bad will they let it
get before doing anything more? There was an article in the Raleigh
paper on Friday about drugs like Fosamax being great for preventing
osteoporosis but researchers finding an increase in DCIS breast cancer.
BINGO! We've not been able to pin point a definative cause of my case
but this is a seriouly smoking gun as I've been on Fosamax for over 10
years. I'm going to take the article with me when I see my PCM next
month. Isn't modern medicine great?

 > CS> Grin, told ya. Rice wine vinegar subs well a lot of the time.

 > I do keep that on hand.

CS> I'd work with that. Had another 'wine with meat' experience here. A
CS> potroast. It was hard to taste that it had meat in it. All a muddy
CS> mix of some sort of fruity background.

Somebody thought it was good. I've seen recipies for beef bourgenione
(probably spelled that wrong) that call for an entire bottle of wine.
Trying to figure out what I can sub for that much wine that would give a
similar taste & tenderise the beef.

> I've figured out one thing. I tolerate wine bacgrounds in seafood
CS> well enoug if done with a delicate hand, but find the mix most folks
CS> think is 'right' with beef or chicken is not to my tastes.

I don't really notice it in things like chicken or veal marsaila.

CS> Ok, we all have our odd spots ;-)

Yes, and no matter how hard you try, I won't drink coffee or eat peanut
butter or coconut. But I will go for chocolate and brussels sprouts in
a heart beat.

 > Sounds interesting. Can you repost the stuffing bread recipe you
 > referred to in a message to someone else in this packet? I'd like to
 > give it a try.

CS> Oh dear! Not sure which one!

CS> I can guess though? I made a loaf of bread, heavy on the whole wheat
CS> (can be 100% WW if you like) with lots of sage, onion powder, and
CS> other 'stuffing seasonings'. Like, 1 TB each for the leafy ones and
CS> 1/2 TB onion powder? This we let the breadmaker make then sliced and
CS> dried it in a slow oven.

CS> 'Whomp-n-Stomp' stuffing. Yo put it in zip lock baggies then those in
CS> a pillow case and 'womp and stomp' til they are crumbs. Mis with
CS> butter and broth until damp and stuff as normal.

 CS> That it?

That looks good. Close enough for me to try as an alternative to
boughten stuffing breads. Got a package at Whole Foods Market last
month but haven't used it yet. We did a lamb alternative for
Thanksgiving and will again for Christmas. For Christmas we've got to
have a dinner with very little left over as we're leaving a couple of
days later for our Israel trip. Still, if I can find a decent turkey
breast at a good price, I might pick it up and pop it into the freezer
for after our return.

 > CS> It's all relative really. Jim Weller thinks it's still BBQ weather at
 > CS> -5C.
 CS> >
 > He can bbq outside at -5C; I wouldn't. I'm barely sticking my face
 > outside at that temperature.

CS> Heck, my DOG won't go out to pee at +5F without his coat and he gives
CS> us nasty looks at 30F.

Sam was like that too. if it was cold, rainy or snowy, he'd go to the
edge of the patio and do his doggy thing there. He never had a coat
tho. Does Cash have a Snuggly? I've seen them for dogs.

CS> *sigh* meantime, Daisy wants to climb the Xmas tree. There's a good
CS> reason why it's tied to the rafters with 100lb test fishing line!

VERY good reason! The fun of pets, tho I really don't remember many
cats trying to climb the tree. Could be because Dad would set it on the
24th and it came down Jan. 1. Not up long enough for the cat to know it
was there most of the time.
