When Mahommet (or whoever) wrote the Q'ran he decreed that it should
always remain in Arabic exactly as written, as by translating, later
religious persons could change meanings to suit their own purposes.
Unfortunatedly many Muslims do not understand Arabic, but have to rely
on the imams to tell them the meanings of what they learn to recite.
This practice seems to be followed in all the Judaic religions.

I don't think they are prohibited by their religion, but that group
just prefer not to indulge.  Certainly my son-in-law eats meat and
drinks (sometimes to excess), and he gave up wearing a turban, but he
still considers himself to be a good Sikh.  I have just read through a
summary of the principles of the Sikh religion, and there is no
mention of intoxicants.  "One should not believe in caste, creed or
untouchability." and "Women have the same rights .... as men possess."
are relevant.

When I visited the Golden Temple at Amritsar, dishes of "harwa", a
type of porridge made from wholemeal flour, ghee and sugar were bought
by worshippers, donated to a receiving priest, mixed with other
donations, and then handed out to the people as they left the temple.
The giving of food to the needy is a worthy principle.

The waiter was a "her", bigger than me, muscular, efficient and
definitely not someone to be trifled with.  I quickly said,
"Sunnyside", and let it go at that.

I like eggs done that way, and often do them basted.
