====================================================================
-> off from the good eating on the trip. Not much but still..........
->
-> RH> Some of us are simply not meant to be skinny.
->
-> I'm neitheer skinny nor a big mama.

I'd like to be in the middle, but big mama is where it's at.

-> -> Breakfast type stuff. White flour pancake mix, pig stuff. Latter is
-> -> good, former is wall paper paste. Also good--jelly, honey, maple
syrup.
->
-> RH> Good idea at least. Wallpaper paste isn't my thing either, but it
-> RH> might be usable for something else.
->
-> Haven't figured out what yet.

Got any wallpaper that needs to go up?

-> RH> My cousin is retired Air Force and works for the VA; I've heard a
lot
->  RH> of it already.
->
-> And Steve is retired Army, deals with the VA. So far, no huge issues, a
-> few minor ones here & there tho.
->
I'll bet Carole has some stories.

-> RH> It was down in the single digits here overnight. It was around
-> RH> freezing today; I actually wore gloves to hold the steeling wheel.
->
-> No surprise. We've been wearing thin knit gloves for the most part.

I generally only wear gloves when it gets below freezing.

-> Today was decent enough that I grabbed a lined windbreaker over a
-> sweatshirt. Steve had on a jeans jacket over a sweater & long sleeved
-> tee shirt. Supposed to be warmer tonorrow.

It's all the way up into the 40s here today. No fear though, it won't
last.

-> -> The British Army also had control of a sector of Berlin so they
needed
-> -> the English on the signs (and sweatshirt).
->
-> RH> I know, but it would be more fun freaking out the locals with an
->  RH> all-Russian shirt.
->
-> Most of them wouldn't understand the point anyway.

There is that ... pity.

-> RH> Zigzag, but that's it; the zigzag is the third set of stitches. I
-> RH> just made a reverseable cover for a rice bag tonight out of fleece
->  RH> and
-> RH> cashmere. The fleece is patchwork; the cashmere is the remains of
a
-> RH> gray sweater; it was for a guy.
->
-> OK, I see. I've used fleece for a C-Pap machine hose cosy but just
-> straight stitched it. Do you make a rice bag out of muslin, then cover
-> it with the fancier fabric? I did that for one, as an experiment, not
-> had the need to make more since that one.

I use canvas or something fairly heavy if I can get it. The muslin feels
too flimsy. I single-stitch fleece since it doesn't ravel. The covers are
fancier since they can be washed. I love making them out of cardigans, and
using the button edge as the closure for the rice bag cover.

->  RH> Oh that's right, you don't have a cat.
->
-> No but one wanted to adopt me in Capernaum. I was giving it some
-> attention when another stray thought he (?) could get some too. The one
-> I was petting let the other one know in no uncertain terms that he was
-> not going to share.

You should have adopted both!

-> -> RH> There is that. Class credit is a motivation. I spent tonight
-> making RH> a rice bag and a cheesecake, both headed to the same place.
->
-> Sounds good, any special cheesecake or just a regular one?

Ricotta, eggs, vanilla, sweetened condensed milk. Thin pastry crust.
There were only a few people there, but they just about killed it.

-> RH> Too bad. It's part of Icanhascheezeburger. Then again maybe it's
->  RH> safer if you don't; it's addictive.
->
-> And I've got enough other things to keep me busy; I don't need to get
-> sucked into a mindless time waster.
->
I'm not sure it's mindless, but a time waster definitely.

-> RH> Cladia Roden's Book of Jewish Food has some Chinese stuff in it.
->  RH> Indian too.
->
-> Not one I'm familiar with--but probably could be, if I could get my
-> hands on a copy.

The library might have it. I found one here, and then bought my own.

-> RH> The noise drives me crazy, so as long as I have the option I do
things
-> RH> by hand where possible. OTOH, the coffee grinder sends the cat
-> RH> running out of the room. I like the coffee grinder.
->
-> Coffee grinder gets very little use around here. Steve got some at Fresh
-> Market the other day but ground it at the store. I've got a coffee
-> grinder we use for spices instead.

Me too, but I use a separate one for the coffee. Actually, I use the spice
one as a nut grinder more often than not. If I dry the nuts out a bit
first it works like a charm when I need to make almond flour.
