====================================================================
-> -> I'm neitheer skinny nor a big mama.
->
-> RH> I'd like to be in the middle, but big mama is where it's at.
->
-> Genetics is a large part of it. Some of my family are super sized; I've
-> tried to avoid getting that way for health reasons. We're going on more
-> of a fruit & vegetable push, as well as healthier ways of cooking since
-> doing school work isn't condusive to losing weight.

Too true. Desk jobs in general aren't.

-> -> RH> might be usable for something else.
->
-> -> Haven't figured out what yet.
->
-> RH> Got any wallpaper that needs to go up?
->
-> No, and we won't be putting any up in this place. A lot of the lower
-> wall space is covered with furniture, bookshelves, etc and the upper
-> space is too broken up (visually) for it. Besides, it's a rental and we
-> don't want the hassles of removing it in a few years.
->
Oh well. It was a thought. Navajo white it is for the duration.

-> RH> I'll bet Carole has some stories.
->
-> I think she's having more problems with it than we are. Some people
-> have a lot of trouble, some have none and others have varying amounts of
-> problems in between the none and a lot. Still, it's good to have
-> available.

That's the way I heard it too. Then again Carole has problems that don't
stem from something concrete, like injuries. You have x-rays to point to
if they give you a hard time. She had to fight them to get the scans done.

-> RH> I generally only wear gloves when it gets below freezing.
->
-> -> Today was decent enough that I grabbed a lined windbreaker over a
-> -> sweatshirt. Steve had on a jeans jacket over a sweater & long
sleeved
-> -> tee shirt. Supposed to be warmer tonorrow.

I just wore a jacket over a sweatshirt yesterday too; it was nearly 50 and
way too warm for a real coat.

-> didn't have the sweater layer he did yesterday. Rain is supposed to
-> come in tonight, until Monday. Picked up some honey, sorgum syrup and
-> goat cheese spreads today.

Ooooh, yummy. Honey plus goat cheese and served warm... it's a good thing
I'm not around!

-> -> Most of them wouldn't understand the point anyway.
->
->  RH> There is that ... pity.
->
-> Just tuning out the world at large to concentrate more on the world
-> around them.

I try to pay attention to both, but then my Dad did the same thing.

-> cover -> it with the fancier fabric? I did that for one, as an
-> experiment, not -> had the need to make more since that one.
->
-> RH> I use canvas or something fairly heavy if I can get it. The muslin
->  RH> feels too flimsy.  I single-stitch fleece since it doesn't ravel.
The
->
-> OK, I understand. Most of the people who have used my rice bags have
-> been happy with the way I make them. I've used a heavier weight muslin,
-> sometimes a couple of layers or a heavier fabric. Not too heavy since I
-> make a heavier cover, usually a towel or something of that sort.

Toweling works. I use the fleece because it's handy and people like it.
The toweling is probably a lot more heat-resistant though. The cashmere
can feel a lot better next to a tender spot, provided the user isn't
allergic to it. I actually broke down and bought a commercial one the
other day; it's being sent to the Dominican to a missions group down there.
The rice might attract bugs or critters, while a synthetic won't. On the
upside, it was half price.

-> RH> covers are fancier since they can be washed. I love making them
out
-> RH> of cardigans, and using the button edge as the closure for the rice
->  RH> bag cover.
->
-> That works, especially if you can find the old cardigans. Some of them
-> are labled as hand wash only--until they get that first machine wash and
-> get nice and cuddly with the fibres next to it.
->
I do sometimes, at the end of the season in thrift stores. I've gotten
sweaters five for a dollar that way, even the cashmere. Cotton cardigans
might work too, but not the nubby ones. I generally wash the cashmere in
hot water and throw them in the dryer to pre-shrink them.

-> -> No but one wanted to adopt me in Capernaum. I was giving it some
-> -> attention when another stray thought he (?) could get some too. The
one
-> -> I was petting let the other one know in no uncertain terms that he
was
-> -> not going to share.
->
-> RH> You should have adopted both!
->
-> Couldn't have either one, sigh! Would have cost a bundle in cat food
-> fattening them up.

Oh well. Couldn't take them back to a rental anyway.

-> -> Sounds good, any special cheesecake or just a regular one?
->
-> RH> Ricotta, eggs, vanilla, sweetened condensed milk. Thin pastry
crust.
-> RH> There were only a few people there, but they just about killed it.
->
-> Doesn't take many people to devour something good.
->
Sure doesn't. One week they killed two bags of chips and some fresh salsa
and sour cream. And here I was worried about leftovers...hah.

-> -> And I've got enough other things to keep me busy; I don't need to get
-> -> sucked into a mindless time waster.
->
->  -> RH> I'm not sure it's mindless, but a time waster definitely.
->
-> I've got enough of those in my life already.

Eating, sleeping, laundry... the list is endless.

-> RH> The library might have it. I found one here, and then bought my
own.
->
-> Easiest way to check it out would be to get my own copy and peruse it at
-> my leisure.  I picked up a little Isaeli foods cook book on the trip;
-> Steve posted the hummus recipe from it. There are others in it we will
-> try, and probably post over the next few months.

I had a vintage 60s Israeli cookbook for years, but never used it. I took
it to the local messianic synagogue as a Free To Good Home. It found a
home quite nicely. I figured if I hadn't used it by now I wasn't going to.

-> RH> Me too, but I use a separate one for the coffee. Actually, I use
the
-> RH> spice one as a nut grinder more often than not. If I dry the nuts
out
->  RH> a bit
-> RH> first it works like a charm when I need to make almond flour.
->
-> We've got the grain mill for making flours. Steve had some coffee; the
-> rest is in the freezer for whenever his folks or other coffee drinkers
-> visit. Not much chance my parents will visit; they don't do much travel
-> these days. But, the coffee would be there for them if they did visit.

I keep some in the freezer once in a while, but it usually doesn't make it
that far.
