If one is worried about the water service freezing underground or in
an unheated crawlspace then trickling water from any faucet will
protect the main line. But if you are trying to protect a single
interior line than that particular line needs to have moving water
in it. Since hot water cools off quickly, a hot water line can
freeze as easily as a cold one. Before I re-distributed some packed,
settled insulation and patched a membrane tear that wind was getting
through, I had one hot water line that froze all the time but the
cold water one just inches away was reliable.

     Title: Wild Greens Quiche

  Servings: 4

           Pastry for a 9" pie
      2 TB Butter
      2 c  chopped onions, leeks.
           whatever
    1/4 c  parsley
      1 ts flour
      6 sl bacon, cooked, cut into
    1/2    pieces
      3 lg eggs
    2/3 c  whipping cream
    1/3 c  milk
    1/4 ts salt
    1/4 ts pepper
    1/8 ts nutmeg

I've used just about any sort of wild green that I would normally
steam or cook, wild onions, garlic, leeks, side pork, even bologna
once (I wouldn't recommend the balogna).  The recipe is forgiving
and just about any combo is good.

Prepare pie crust and place in dutch oven and up sides at least one
inch.  (Or place in a 9" pie pan.)  Pierce crust all over with a
fork and  bake until golden (about 350 degrees for 10 min. if your
using a conventional oven.)

Melt butter in a skillet, add leeks, parsley and saute til soft.
Stir in flour and add to pie crust.  Sprinkle bacon over filling.

In a separate bowl, beat eggs, cream, milk, spices and pour into
crust.  Bake in dutch oven for about 25 minutes.  (Or 350 degrees
for 45-50 minutes until set in center.)
