===========
Hi Ruth,

-> And it's not always a heavy weight bowl either, I presume. The other
-> day I thought about mixing something up in a Tupperware bowl, then
-> thought again and used the KA. Easier to get to and just as easy to
-> clean & it will mix whatever you feed it.

 RH> I'd have to use the stairs to get at my Tupperware bowl, so I

I'd have to use a step stool.

 RH> generally use a steel one that's already upstairs. I don't have the
 RH> counter space to keep the KA out; it's under the TV stand. That

That's a priority one for counter space for us. Same as the can opener
and toaster oven. Lesser priority items are stowed away.

 RH> requires lifting, so it's easier to just use a spoon. I could use the
 RH> hand mixer, but I don't like the noise.

One word for the noise--ear plugs (ok, 2 words).

-> RH> He peeled a mean potato and quartered a mean apple, but that was
 RH> about
->  RH> all.

-> Beats doing nothing. (G)

 RH> He was really useful when Mom made applesauce in the fall.

I would suspect so. Do you do it in his place now or do you have one of
those gizmos that peels, cores and slices?

-> RH> be pretty good, but died a year or so before she did. The training
->  RH> wasn't for naught
-> RH> though; it never hurts to know how to cook!

-> No, it never does know how, for either men or women. I understand my
-> younger brother is a decent cook; I think my older one knows how to push
-> buttons on a microwave.

 RH> A lot of people are like that; I've never understood the mindset.

He's just had no desire or incentive to learn. He had a desk job with
NY DMV, ate his noon meal in the cafeteria there. Came home and supper
was either non cook or toaster oven, then microwave. Breakfast was
probably the same. Now that he's retired, lunch is like that as well I
suspect.

-> RH> all of the meals, so a soldier could save a few from the ones that
->  RH> didn't need it.

-> Trouble is, most all of them need help. Or at least they did last time
-> I tasted any.

 RH> Too bad they don't put vindaloo in those MREs? I can't imagine that
 RH> stuff needing a Tabasco boost.

They may have it in some but I don't know for sure, doubt it tho.
Tabasco landed the hot sauce contract so they're doing good.

->  RH> True - safety goggles?

-> I could, but just work thru it.

 RH> I don't have those any more, not since chem labs in college.

I never took chem in college, just ecology & geology.

->  RH> Dogs, birds, frogs, horses, sheep, goats...?  My dad was like that;
-> RH> animals had him figured for an easy mark. They were right.

-> Some of us are like that. On the same order as a "whisperer" I guess.

 RH> The animals don't always whisper though; they used to just sort of
 RH> pounce.

No, they think we whisper "come here, you'll get lots of attention" and
then they pounce.

-> RH> Tofu, orange juice, and a crust made of wheat bran. UCK. Mixing
-> RH> ricotta and finely mashed tofu works well enough.

-> I'd use something else for the crust but otherwise it doesn't sound that

 RH> It was worse. No added sugar. If it had been tasteless it would have
 RH> been better.

Not even honey? GAG!

-> RH> Me too. Half the time all I need to do is look at the sodium
 RH> content.
-> RH> This she says after devouring some microwave popcorn.... Of
 RH> course,
-> RH> it's Superbowl Sunday so junk food is a requirement. I even ate
->  RH> Doritos!

-> I didn't watch any of it; would have liked to have seen some of the
-> commercials tho.  I read about the Oprah, Leno & Letterman one today;
-> had heard & read about the Tim Tebow one before the game.

 RH> That was really funny, and the Tebow one was great. ('nuff said in
 RH> here, methinks) The Budweiser ad with the cow was fun too.

Doubt I'll ever see any, except the clips they had on the news last
night. Also, the guy & the dog for Doritos was one produced locally, on
a low budget but it got those involved some $600,000. to split. Cool
cash. Found out (story in the local paper) that Doritos may sign the
dog; she liked the chips better than the dog treats.

Catch you later,
