Not necessarily, oh, biased one.

Softball uses a larger ball than baseball. A fast pitch softball is 11" +/-
0.125 in (29.7 +/- 0.3 cm), with a weight between 5.875 oz (166.5 g) and 6.125
oz (173.6 g).

And the softball pitch/throw/toss is performed with an underhand motion quite
akin to what I have seen done in the few cricket matches I have seen any part
of. The major difference is that in softball the pitcher stands in one place to
"toe the mark" rather than bouncing/hopping/running/striding up to the mark and
delivering the ball as the mark is reached.

There is no "official" record for the fastest softball pitch. Here are some of
the reputed records after a search of various archives:

* Guinness is supposed to have clocked a softball pitch at 68.9 miles per hour
(110.9 kph).

* National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), a women's professional softball league, claims
that pitches of "70+" MPH are common. There are many other references in
various sources making the same 70+ miles per hour claim.

* The fastest softball pitch reportedly clocked at the Atlanta Olympics was
73.2 MPH (117.8/kph).

* Eddie Feigner, a famous softball player and the founder of the "King and His
Court" 4-man softball team is supposed to have been clocked at 104 miles per
hour (167.372 kph). In a game against Major Leaguers ballplayers, Eddie Feigner
struck out, Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Brooks Robinson, Willie McCovey,
Maury Wills, and Harmon Killebrew all in a row.

Other than Eddie Feigner the softball pitches are substantially slower
(117.8/kph) than the cricket "bowl" you cited in an earlier post.

      Title: Cricket's Spam Quiche
 Categories: Pork, Eggs, Cheese, Chilies, Vegetables
      Yield: 4 servings
 
      1 c  Coarsely chopped mushrooms
      5 tb Butter
      1 c  Fine crushed stone wheat
           - crackers
    1/4 c  Green onions; sliced
    1/4 c  Brown onions; chopped
    3/4 c  Monterey Jack cheese
    3/4 c  Med-sharp Cheddar cheese;
           - grated
    3/4 c  Mozzarella cheese; grated
      1 c  Ricotta cheese
      4 lg Eggs
    1/4 ts Cayenne pepper
    1/4 ts Paprika
    1/4 c  Milk
      1 md Cooked artichoke
    1/4 c  Green bell pepper; chopped
    1/4 c  Red bell pepper; chopped
     12 oz Can Spam; shredded
 
  Saute mushrooms in 3 Tbs butter until limp. Stir in the
  crushed crackers, then turn into well greased 10-inch round
  quiche pan. Press mushroom mixture evenly over bottom of
  dish and up the sides. Melt remaining butter, add onions,
  saute and add shredded Spam. Layer shredded cheeses and Spam
  in dish.

  In blender, whirl the eggs, ricotta, milk and cayenne until
  smooth. Pour into crust and sprinkle with paprika. Place
  sauteed red and green bell peppers on top. 

  Bake in oven at 375øF (190øC) for 40 to 45 mins. Garnish
  with cooked artichoke.
