The main difficulty I'd have would be how to avoid dropping
the instrument when fingering. Perhaps I shall go to the
exhibit hall today and borrow an instrument for the purpose
of finding out.

Hospital 1 was at least as identical to hospital 2 as Tweedledum
to Tweedledee. Charming is not perhaps the right word - the
audience may have been heartened by my horizontal condition
and consequent inability to thump them for disrespect, should
I have wished to threaten such.

That's quite unso, because the release point itself is
irrelevant if and only if accuracy is irrelevant. The
"aiming" (or whatever you'd call it) of a ball meant to
be served accurately adds a step and inevitably changes
the motion of delivery, enough to account for the
phenomenon you describe:

 What matters is that according to

Well, yeah, drive a car down the featureless Bonneville Salt
Flats as opposed to driving it in a direction, say around a
track or at least to avoid cactuses.

Grilled Tuna Stuffed With Mesclun

serves: 4

3 limes, juice of
1/4 c high-quality soy sauce
5 Tb extra-virgin olive oil
1 ts dark sesame oil, optional
1/2 ts coarsely ground black pepper
2 Tb water
2 c mesclun, arugula - or other greens, washed,
- dried and torn into bits
1 1/2 lb tuna steak, no less than 1 1/2" thick, skin removed

Time: 45 minutes, plus additional marinating time, if desired

Start a charcoal or wood fire or preheat a gas grill or broiler.
Combine lime juice, soy sauce, olive oil, sesame oil, pepper, and
water. Whisk or blend until emulsified. Soak greens in this
mixture while preparing the tuna.

Cut a pocket in the tuna, keeping the entry point small.

Drain the greens of excess marinade and cram them into the
pocket; you can overstuff as long as you don't tear the tuna
(the tuna won't shrink, nor will the greens expand). If the
pocket opening is small, seal it with a toothpick; if it's
more than 2" wide, use two skewers. Marinate the tuna in the
remaining soy mixture until the grill is hot, or up to 1 hr
at room temperature or several hours refrigerated.

Grill the tuna, turning once, a total of about 6 min an inch
of thickness (if your steak is 1 1/2" thick, for example, turn
it after 4 min and cook 4-5 min more). Season with salt and
pepper, cut into 1/2" slices and serve.
