=====================
Hi Hap,

-> hn> I'm getting back on track, and this weekend
-> hn> will add a couple more dishes to the freezer

-> I'll have to start doing that soon. I was going to make some split pea
-> soup for supper (and lunch or otherwise) tonight but ran out of energy
-> before starting. Maybe tomorrow night.

 hn> I have some split pea soup on the plan for
 hn> this weekend. enough to freeze two containers
 hn> for later.

We had enough for supper, a quart into the freezer and lunch the next
day. Steve is going to MM it; I made it a bit different from my usual
version & it was really good.

-> I'd been using some my MIL brought down from NY last August. Some
-> really big cloves in the heads; a little went far.

 hn> I can get garlic very cheap at the local
 hn> hispanic store, 5head/$1 and that usually
 hn> lasts me quite a while.

We don't have any of those in WF; I'll probably look for organic at
Whole Foods Market.

-> -> I think my dad could slice meat that thin too.

-> hn> He always managed to slice it thinner
->  hn> than I wanted (grin)!

-> Same here but with 5 kids to feed on a small income, he had to. My mom

 hn> Yep, my folks could stretch the food
 hn> dollar quite a ways, and with hunting
 hn> and fishing adding to the larder we did
 hn> ok. I only remember being really stuffed
 hn> on Thanksgiving and Christmas though!
 hn> (grin)

We usually had Thanksgiving at my grandmother's--and had to have sweet
potatoes (with the marshmallows), turnips, limaa beans, all that stuff
that most of us (me & my siblings) can't stand now. I like turnips now
but the other 2.............I'll eat limas if I can't avoid them but no
way will I eat a sweet potato. We were full but not stuffed. We were
stuffed when we'd visit my Aunt Ruth, my dad's only sister but those
times weren't as frequent.

->  hn> If I remember when I'm at the store I
->  hn> might...problem is remember when I'm
-> hn> AT the store (grin)

-> Put it on the list, now! (G)

 hn> I just might! (grin)

DON'T FORGET TO GET BALONEY!!!!!!!!

-> hn> Not sure, probably genetics though, as
-> hn> he'd been complaining for several years
-> hn> and they just didn't want to do anything
-> hn> due to his young age...then it was a "HAVE
->  hn> TO" situation.

-> Should have had it done before but probably had to deal with insurance
-> people................

 hn> I think that was more of the problem.
 hn> They claimed he was too "young" for the
 hn> surgery, finally the Doc's said it was
 hn> absolutely the only choice, so the Insurance
 hn> paid up. I think they don't want to get you
 hn> started too early because you'll need more
 hn> replacements down the line and that's $$$.
 hn> It's a shame when the $ is the determining
 hn> factor!

Another instance of the company being run by bean counters instead of
doctors! I started getting pneumonia shots some years ago & got told I
shouldn't get any more when I asked at a clinic this fall. Talked with
my doctor; no problem, got one. The problem was that they're usually
given to older people & I started getting them at a relatively young
age, but needed to because of my lungs.

-> My brother is sending weekly updates via e-mail on Dad's computer.
-> Can't say much about Mom because she reads over his shoulder. He wants
-> to keep them in the house as long as possible--which means making
-> changes that he's resisting.

 hn> Your dad or your brother is resisting?

My brother is. Don't know if Dad is home yet and might be thinking more
about what Steve & I have suggested. He's probably not homme; my
brother said he'd e-mail us when Dad does come home.

-> hn> I think she was always aware, but always
-> hn> deferred to my dad's wishes, even when
->  hn> they were nutz.

-> The important thing--is she making those changes now?

 hn> Yep, she's doing quite well.

Good! Some things make sense to do before there's a real need to have
them done.

-> -> Rather frustrating since we want everybody's input on the bigger issues.

-> hn> Yep, and they'll complain afterwards regardless.

-> Of course! But action needs taking, the sooner the better.

 hn> (grin) Easier to ask for forgiveness than
 hn> permission!!

That may be the route we'll go. (G)
