Ärende: RE: around the house
============================
Hey Ruth!
->
-> -> hn> I can give you a link to a site where you can
-> -> hn> buy protective sleeves and such if you're
->
-> -> Go ahead & send it; we can take the information with us & see what
the
-> -> situation is. Then, if needed, send for stuff. We're going to need an
->
-> hn> Sent a link to your email addy.
->
-> Got it and we'll take it when we head north next month. I'm glad we
-> decided not to try & go this week; my folks are rght in the middle of
-> the weather system. We'd be snowed in for the week!
->
Good thing you didn't make the trip for sure!
You might find yourselves trapped up there
so long you'd have to register as residents
again! (grin)

-> -> -> taking up the room they are in my parent's house.
-> -> hn> I can sure agree with that, and if you want
->
-> -> Send that too, but we can look into local hstorical organizations as
-> -> well. In the 50s, NY City built a series of reservoirs in the area,
-> -> wiping out some small towns. Dad has pictures of some of them, as well
-> -> as a number of the people, many of whom have since passed away.
Those
-> -> should stay local but if nobody local wants them,.................
->
-> hn> Your first stop should be the local
-> hn> county historical society and from
-> hn> there on to state historical, or other
->  hn> local museums.
->
-> We'll probably be on the phone or internet while we're up there, after
-> we get an idea of how much and what sort of stuff it is. At one time,
-> Dad was thinking of writing a book but never got around to it. I think
-> that's part of why he has so much photo/paper "stuff".
->
Stuff....junk we keep around..........junk
Stuff we throw away (grin)

-> -> hn> It went out that day, so you likely have
-> ->  hn> it by now...
->
-> -> Got it on Saturday, thanks. I commented to Steve that it sort of looked
-> -> like "in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" (the sky
-> -> and the ground).
->
-> hn> I'm getting more and more requests for
->  hn> them, and I do enjoy painting them....and
-> hn> now that I'm laminating them when finished
-> hn> folks are more willing to use them as bookmarks.
-> hn> Quite a few of the earlier non laminated ones are
-> hn> being kept "safe" instead of being used.
->
-> Right now it's still in the envelope but it'll be transferred to my
-> Bible shortly. It'll probably be one of the "floaters"--marking a
-> passage I need to refer to for part of school work, then moving on to
-> the next one.................(G)
->
Since I started laminating them
demand has shot up! (grin)...must
be the price I'm charging!

-> -> hn> Oh La la! Too many carbs!!
->
-> -> True, but isn't that part of the fun? We've pretty much given up on
-> -> french fries; only eat french toast occaisionally (with maple syrup) and
-> -> only have french bread when we're eating Italian somewhere. Our
-> -> favorite way to eat it is the way Carraba's servesit, with the dipping
-> -> oil. We'll do that at home with regular bread.
->
-> hn> Many normal french breakfasts are simply
-> hn> French bread, coffee (or cafe au lait) and
->  hn> a chunk of chocolate.
->
-> OTOH, a lot of German places gave you a roll, cold cuts, cheese, some
-> had soft boiled eggs, quark, fruit.......plus coffee or tea. I asked
-> for hot chocolate in Switzerland--got a packet of powdered mix and a mug
-> of hot water.
->
We stayed at a B&B in Leavenworth (WA) When
we still did cross country skiiing..the lady
who ran it was swedish and put out the
best breakfast you've ever seen! Swedish
pancakes, french crepes, (very similar),
omelettes, fresh made bread and scones
and she only rented out tlhree rooms!!

-> ->  hn> I have a friend going on a cruise to Belize and
-> ->  hn> Mayan ruins in the Yucatan...oh what a fun
-> ->  hn> trip he's gonna have!!
->
-> -> He should have fun but it's not the kind of trip I think I'd enjoy. The
-> -> one to Israel was interesting We weren't allowed too much time on our
-> -> own during the day (some days more than others) but it was a good
-> -> introduction to the country. I wouldn't mind going back with Steve for
-> -> several weeks to explore some places more, and to eat more of the
local
-> -> foods in local restaurants. When we ate at kibbutzes, we had a section
-> -> set aside for our group; it would have been interesting to be able to
-> -> interact more with the people. Next time!
->
->  hn> When I was a young lad, I loved reading
->  hn> explorer's journals and biographies. Beebe,
-> hn> Byrd, Lewis and Clark, Coronado, The
-> hn> voyage of the Beagle, Sir Richard Burton,
->  hn> I actually know a descendent of his),David
-> hn> Livingstone, Shackleton, and others.
-> hn> So for me a trip to places that I read
-> hn> about would be a wonderful experience!
-> hn> As a photographer the cental american
->  hn> area is a photographer's paradise in terms
-> hn> of plant and animal subjects...its' tough on
-> hn> gear (humidity always is) and the heat
->  hn> would be a strain....but I'd be willing to
-> hn> go anytime! Same for Antartica!
->
-> Do you want to thry the diet some of those early explorers had? Meat,
-> blubber, sticks of butter..........................
->
Nope, I'd be trying to find ways
to eat good no matter where I
am!
chat with you soon
