Ärende: RE: around the house
============================
Hiya Ruth!
->
-> I've been busy with a doctor's appointment, shopping, usual Sunday stuff
-> and school. Working on a paper due Thursday for the last one, a bit
-> more rough note taking and then type it up in outline form, 3 pages.
->
We're up to the eyebrows with Dr's appts
as well. Everytime Anne gets a new prescription
or appointment we have to get it cleared through
the workman's comp caseworker. Now we are
scheduled to see "their" neurosurgeon this weekend
so he can "determine" if it's an on the job injury.
They say it's merely a "formality" but I'm sure that
his job is to do his best to get the workman's comp
company off the hook if he can. In a perverse sort
of logic I'd almost hope he does, as it is now we've
had to wait and wait till things get approved before
we can take any action. Anne's injury happened in
November and we still have not done anything that
has really helped her yet. if it were not an on the
job injury we would not have to wait, we could
DO things as soon as they were recommended.

-> -> hn> You might find yourselves trapped up there
-> -> hn> so long you'd have to register as residents
-> ->  hn> again! (grin)
->
-> -> No thanks! The taxes there are killers! When Steve was in the Army, we
-> -> didn't have to pay the taxes if we were stationed outside of the state.
-> -> We never had to pay NY taxes. (G)
->
-> hn> Oh I know, Anne's mom still lives on Long Island.
->
-> Makes you wonder why people still chose to live there. (G)
->
Anne's mom has lots of relatives still there
although a bunch of them have moved to
Florida. My Brother in law lives with Mom,
and she still has two jobs that she loves.
I don't think she'll ever move away, as long
as she can afford to stay there.
->
-> -> hn> Stuff we throw away (grin)
->
-> -> Yes, and I'm going to go thru my mom's kitchen cabinets to see what
can
-> -> be classified as junk. She probably has some spices older than my
-> -> marriage.
->
->  hn> Ah but you're still a young lass!
->
-> We will celebrate our 35th anniversary in September; Rachel & David have
-> their 13th this year.
->
We have our 37th coming up this month.
->
-> hn> When my grandmother passed away
-> hn> they found canned goods that had been
-> hn> there for over 30 years. My grandfather
-> hn> did not even know how to open a can!
->
-> I wouldn't be surprised if my folks might have some that old in the
-> cellar that were put up on a shelf & forgotten about. I've heard
-> stories, too, about years old stuff being found in a freezer. The
-> advantage of moving every so often. (G)
->
Yep!

-> ->  hn> Since I started laminating them
-> ->  hn> demand has shot up! (grin)...must
-> ->  hn> be the price I'm charging!
->
-> -> Got to be the price! I can see where there would be a demand.
->
-> hn> I have since gotten my own laminator and
-> hn> have dropped the price from nothing to
->  hn> free!
->
-> Sounds like the way my SS Director "salary" worked, but in reverse, when
-> we were in AZ. Benefits, tho, are out of this world.
->
Smiles and thank you's are priceless!

-> ->  hn> We stayed at a B&B in Leavenworth (WA) When
-> -> hn> we still did cross country skiiing..the lady
-> -> hn> who ran it was swedish and put out the
-> ->  hn> best breakfast you've ever seen! Swedish
-> -> hn> pancakes, french crepes, (very similar),
-> -> hn> omelettes, fresh made bread and scones
-> -> hn> and she only rented out tlhree rooms!!
->
-> -> All in the same meal? We stayed at a B&B in NY for the 08 picnic; Fords
-> -> and Michael were there also. Michael, the non breakfast eater, packed
-> -> away a good amount of breakfast every morning. We had stayed at
->  hn> another
-> -> one in western NY the year before and had another big breakfast.
->
-> hn> Yes, all in one meal, and there was even more!
-> hn> Gjetost cheese (yum!!), oatmeal, cheeses,
-> hn> and more, we usually made a big sandwich
-> hn> for later in the day! She was a terrific lady
->
-> Stuffed, before the day even got going good. But, it was energy for the
-> skiing. I'd have done good to eat a small portion of it.
->
-> hn> and also owned the ski shop where we
-> hn> bought our cross country ski gear.
-> hn> She has since passed away and I often
-> hn> wonder what is happening to that big
-> hn> log cabin home she had.
->
-> -> -> Do you want to thry the diet some of those early explorers had?
Meat,
->
-> -> hn> Nope, I'd be trying to find ways
-> -> hn> to eat good no matter where I
-> ->  hn> am!
->
-> -> But if nothing else were available?
->
-> hn> I was a boy scout all the way
-> hn> up through explorer scout. I have
-> hn> lived off the land when camping and
-> hn> hiking often. I can trap, make snares
-> hn> fish traps, and forage quite well.
->
-> Kind of hard to do some of that in the arctic areas. Otherwise, take
-> along a good book to ID local plants, etc.
->
Arctic is easier than antarctic though!
chat with you soon!
