=====================
Hi Hap,

-> hn> I find that even if I get a good sized one
-> hn> and cut it into quarters they stay quite
-> hn> nice in the crisper for a week.

-> Steve isn't much of a cabbage eater so most of the time we eat it as
-> cole slaw. Cooked cabbage is rare, usually red cabbage cooked in German
-> style. Corned beef and cabbage, not very often.

 hn> That's why I've been adding shredded
 hn> cabbage to different dishes, not enough
 hn> to really change them but as an added
 hn> veggie to the dish. Seems to be working

I should do that but haven't the ambition to think of it right now.

 hn> and Anne says she likes it so I'll keep on
 hn> doing it that way, she doesn't like cole slaw
 hn> so we seldom have that on the menu.
 hn> but cabbage is a very good food for
/// hn> her/us so I'm looking for ways to use
 hn> it without resorting to the traditional
 hn> boiled cabbage or stuffed cabbage rolls.

Sounds like a good idea to me. When we get our neighbor's unstuffed
cabbage rolls recipe, we'll send it along your way.

-> And then you have those that use organic methods but don't go thru the
-> certifcation process. We got some Montanna wheat grown that way
-> recently. It saves the farmer from having to jum thru all the
-> certification hoops but can be a bit harder on the consumer digging out
-> the farming methods used.

 hn> I looked around and can't find the article,
 hn> not sure whether it was from our local
 hn> organic store that we regularly shop at
 hn>  http://marlenesmarket-deli.com/ or from
 hn> Sunset magazine, or even the local paper.
 hn> Ah well, just when I don't need to look for
 hn> it, it will pop right up!

OK, I'll see it at some point in my life & woder why it was so
important.

-> hn> Leeks (if they have em) one, Cabbage: green, red, and
-> hn> napa. If you want something different you have to go
-> hn> and grow it yourself...which is what we used to do.

-> Sounds like you're doing better than we are in some respects.

 hn> Which would surprise me, it used to be that you
 hn> could choose from 5 or 6 tomatoes, 4 or 5 corns
 hn> and lots of fresh beans, and produce. Now you
 hn> often only see one variety of beets, beans, turnips,
 hn> cucumbers, corn, etc.

I usually see a couple of majors plus the store brand most of the
time.

-> Do you really want to try fried baloney again; is that why you're
-> stalling?

 hn> Well, it's not real high on my list of
 hn> things to get done.

I hear you loud and clear on that one.

-> hn> Unless you decide to stay nearby!

-> We'll make that determination in a couple of years.

 hn> You'll have the whole world to choose from!

Most of it at any given point.

Catch you later,
Ruth
