I faintly remember "The Whaler", but I was very young back then, so memory
doesn't serve me well.

Oh, man, I forgot about that!  We had a Checkers about a two minute walk from
our place in Douglasville.  I remember walking there when we didn't want to eat
and getting good food really cheap!  I miss them; there's no Checkers or
Rally's up here.

Maura and I have discussed lately about a lot of the things we miss from living
down in the Atlanta metro area and the wide variety of food is one of them.
There are plenty of good places here to eat though.  We even found a Malaysian
place here and Maura went beserk when she saw their ad, heh.  So I promised her
once I get a few more paychecks down under the ol' belt and into the wallet,
I'd take her there.

I'm not very adventureous with food these days because of my health problems,
but I have opened up more to trying new foods.  In fact, the older Chinese lady
at the place tonight pointed to their new Szchuean (sp!) menu and said, "Try
this menu for /real/ Chinese food next time!" in her halting English.  Most of
it is spicy, which can be downright deadly with my hiatial hernia and GERD, but
I'd be willing to try.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: ORIENTAL SPICY ORANGE BEEF
 Categories: Chinese, Beef
      Yield: 4 Servings

      1 lb Beef flank or round steak
      2 tb Corn oil
    1/4 c  Slivered orange peel
      1 cl Minced garlic
    1/2 ts Ground ginger
      2 tb Corn starch
      1 c  Cool beef broth
    1/4 c  Soy sauce
    1/4 c  Dry sherry
    1/4 c  Orange marmalade
    1/2 ts Crushed dried red pepper

  In Wok medium heat oil: Add meat 1/3 at a time.Stir fry 3 minutes or
  until browned. Return all beef to Wok. Add: peel, garlic and ginger.
  Stir fry 1 minute. Stir together: corn starch, beef broth, soy sauce,
  sherry, marmalade and pepper. Stir into beef. Stirring constantly,
  bring to boil over medium heat. Boil 1 minute. Serve over rice.
  Serves 4.
