Ärende: RE: around the house
============================
Hello Ruth!
->
-> -> hn> Not even one meal, and less than 4 hours sleep.
-> -> hn> Just enough time to switch clothes and grab a
-> -> hn> nap, then back to the airport. Got home at 10:45
-> ->  hn> got up at 0330. 0630 flight to NYC.
->
-> -> That was a fast in and out!
->
-> HN> Yes indeed, she's back now, and today was
-> HN> her first day back in class, yesterday was
->  HN> all Doctor's appts.
->
-> She needs a vacation from her vacation. Hopefully the kids are off the
-> worst of their sugar high and will be co-operative.
->
First week back was tough for her, the
kids had been kids, and the substitutes
had written long notes on the behavior
problems. Anne had to be the ogre most
of the week!

-> -> Yes but most often the evaluator is a therapist also. I've seen quite a
-> -> number of PT in my life time, mostly military. They seem to specialise
-> -> in pain & torture--and were always surprised at how far I'd push (or
-> -> could be pushed) before I'd say "enough!".
->
-> HN> Not in this case, the evaluator is there solely
-> HN> to try and get the company off the hook for paying
-> HN> for the on the job injury. He's a doctor who's payed
-> HN> by the worker's comp company and his bread is buttered
-> HN> only on the side of the company.
->
-> The evaluator should be an impartial one. I know, not the way things
-> operate but my opinion. Both you and the company should get copies of
-> the evaluation and suggested action.
->
What should be and what "is" are often worlds apart!
We got a copy, the company got a copy, and Anne's
primary doctor got a copy.

-> -> hn> No choice of companies, this is the Workman's
-> -> hn> Comp insurance company that the school district
->
-> -> GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!
->
->  HN> yep.
->
-> Are you chewing up spikes and spitting out nails yet? (G)
->
Nope, mostly it's just dealing with the delays, they
have not been able to dispute the fact that she was
fine before the incident, the incident happened at
school while she was doing her job, and in the course
of doing her job...and she has not been "fine" since.
The wriggle a lot, but they have not been able to
get off the hook, and it's not likely they'd win a
court case, and they know that. Getting her treated
and well is the least damaging of their options, but
they still can't resist dragging their feet a bit.

-> -> hn> that. Still debating whether she'll opt for
-> -> hn> and treatment, both chemo and radiation
-> -> hn> are recommended at this point.
->
-> -> But both can have their own set of related unpleasantness.
->
-> HN> Yes, but the tumor was inoperable so those are
-> HN> the only options still available. So far it looks
-> HN> like MIL is going to opt for whatever the doc says
-> HN> which is both rad and chemo. At 82 Mom is pretty
-> HN> healthy other than the cancer, so we'll see what
->  HN> progresses from here.
->
-> Hopefully she will be able to take it with minimal side effects.
-> Radiation can have only minor side effects or some nasty ones; I've not
-> heard anything but nasty ones with chemo.
->
They both have the potential for very
nasty side effects. She's gonna lose her
hair either way. ....and she's not gonna
have anymore children (grin)

-> -> hn> Salads for the most part. Soup one night
-> -> hn> and tomorrow I'm working all day at the ballpark,
-> -> hn> so I'll grab something on the way home I expect.
->
-> -> How did the knee take several hours of standing on concrete?
->
-> HN> it was rough the day after that's for sure!
->
-> Don't push it to the point where it's about impossible to walk on it
-> after a game. I know you enjoy the job but you may have to switch to
-> something less stressful on the knee.
->
I'll use a cane if I have to, I like my job and
don't want to give it up unless it's absolutely
necessary.

-> -> For sure! We made it down Lombard Street, to Golden Gte State Park
and
-> -> got some chcolate at Ghiradelli Square, and paid outrageous parking
fees
->
-> HN> we stayed in a hotel in the Theatre district and
-> HN> took busses, cablecars, or taxis when we could.
->
-> We drove up from the Presidio of Monterey that morning, back the same
-> day.
->
Ugh, traffic coming and going! Did you do US 101?

-> -> hn> Amanda went to college just down the road
-> -> hn> from where their "home" is, but in 4 years
-> -> hn> she never went once! We encouraged her to
-> -> hn> many times, but she never got around to
-> ->  hn> going and seeing a live show. I would have
-> -> hn> been there at least once a month (Grin).
->
-> -> I'd have gone at least once, maybe more, depending on funding, etc.
->
-> HN> We enjoy the show, and often listen on Saturday
-> HN> evenings when it's on our Public radio station.
->
-> We don't listen as much as we used to. But, when we do, it's "why don't
-> we listen more often?" sort of thing. That's when "Into Tomorrow" (a
-> technology radio show) is on a different station.
->
We often don't have the radio on as much on Saturday
afternoons anymore, or we're still out and about when
it's on...we hear it in the car more than at home these
days!
chat with you soon
