Ärende: Catching up...AGAIN! :) [1]
====================================================================
Hi Ruth,

> All went smooth; the GPS directed us on some back roads in PA we'd never
> been on before.

Interesting :) We don't have one.. I was thinking of getting one for my son
though since he's in MD... With his vision, it might be really helpful.

>> it was great. After I stuffed it I covered it with garlic salt, pepper
>> and thyme.

>> ===Leg of Lamb Roast===

> Somewhere I've got that, from when you posted it while we were in GA.
> We tried it and liked it then; have to find it and consider doing it
> with this roast.

My grandmother gave me that recipe when I was about 17 and spending a lot of
time cooking with her. I probably mentioned to you that you can use the same
recipe in roast beef.. Now I'M getting hungry Lol

> HAd to be back for Steve's Monday morning class. We'd not been to our
> church in several weeks so we wanted to be there for Easter also.

Sure, makes sense. That probably felt great being there for Easter as well.

>> We > stopped in Hancock & got 4 quarts of maple syrup, some maple

> That sounds great :) I used to love stopping for such when
> we'd go up JK> to Vermont.

> What, you don't buy NY State maple syrup? Heresy! But, I did have a
> Vermont maple hard candy recently--not seen those in NY.

haha :) Actually I do indeed buy NYS maple syrup and at some of the orchard's
here, you can also get maple candy such as you'd find in Vermont :) But we
have enjoyed going up north to visit Ron's relatives in Connecticutt - and
sometimes we travel a bit since we're up there. We're supposed to go up for a
visit in May, but I'm not sure if we'll do that.. it gets complicated with pups
:)

>> Sounds like a good trip :)

> All in all, very good. Did some cooking for my dad--stuff he'd not had
> in years (tapioca, rice pudding) and got mom's pantry turntable & spices
> cleaned out & sorted. Plus a bunch of meals for them in the freezer.

That's wonderful :) I did the same for my in-laws a few times - was great for
them since they could possibly skip some of the frozen supposedly 'healthy'
dinners at the grocery store... which were so bad for my father-in-law
especially, at the time. I bet your parents were very very appreciative of all
that you accomplished there (grin).

>> Lol that is true.. right now they are bundles of energy, and are still
>> taking several naps throughout the day. When they're awake, they are

>> (argh!) or this week at least, playing with the grandboys :)

> IOW, typical puppies. (G)

I'll say :) Little roughnecks too! Sophie is the smaller one of the two, but
what she lacks in size she makes up in frenzy with wild attacks and pounces on
Indy.. then all of a sudden you'll here Sophie yelping like she's going to die,
and it's Indy getting her back with a vicious leg hold! I have to break them
up so they don't tear up the room they're in :)

> Yes, my brothers used to suffer thru the ragweed. They got an AC in
> their bedroom; we had a fan. I don't know how I'd react to ragweed, etc
> now but don't want to try it.

I've read recently that there is really no good place to be this year.. all the
pollens in various states are at their worst this year, right now. The news
blamed Oak tree pollen in the southeast.. sounds terrible :( they mentioned
that they expect that to subside in a few weeks.. and then the grass, etc.
pollens will pick up - I remember my brother coming in from trying to mow the
grass, tears running down his face, but not from crying.. they were from
allergies to the grass he'd been instructed to cut by Dad.. poor guy :( Even
shots didn't help his outdoors allergies..

>> the pine > pollen. I stay inside as much as possible.
>> That does sound very bad :( I can understand your not going out!

> It's not worth the risk to my health. We're supposed to get a heavy
> rain tonight, knocking down some of it.

Hope it did the job!

>> Yes, and normally one has at least a few garbage pails to use.. you do
>> have to pierce them for drainage though. Don't forget that garden
>> centers such as those at Loews, etc. will have very large planters you
>> can also use.. better in some ways since they already are going to
>> drain well.

> Probably so. We'll consider over the next few weeks what to put in and
> what method. The rosemary over wintered well and is back, big time!

That's great :) I should have gotten one last year (g).

Take care,
Janis
