Well, of course they'd say something like that. It's the promotion of an urban
legend that benefits the establishment ... in image if not in fact. And like
most urban legends it bears only a peripheral, nodding acquaintance to the
truth. I remember back when I was in grade school one of the legends was that
two aspirin in a bottle of co-cola would get you high. Didn't work, but it did
do wonders for aspirin sales to a certain sector of the youth of the day. What
did work was half a dozen M&M candies in a bottle of co-cola (or probably any
other carbonated soda) would make wonderful, copious amounts of pressure to
propel contents, guided and somewhat controlled by a thumb over the neck of the
bottle over a similarly armed opponent and any otherwise innocent bystanders
within ten or so feet.   Bv)=

At one time, before the purity restrictions were relaxed, a beer named
"Christian Moerlein" brewed in Cincinnati. using Ohio ditch water was the
*ONLY* American brewski allowed to be imported into West Germany. East Germany,
of course, did not do business with us capitalists at that time.   Bv)=

BTW - Christian was (and is) pretty good frothingslosh.

      Title: Baked Beer Burgers
 Categories: Beef, Beer, Chilies, 
      Yield: 6 servings
  
      2 lb Ground beef
        ds Pepper
      1 ts Red Devil sauce
      1 cl Garlic; crushed
    1/3 c  Chilli sauce
    1/2 pk Dry onion soup mix
    1/2 c  Beer
  
  Preheat oven to 400øF.
   
  Combine meat, pepper, Tabasco sauce, garlic, chilli sauce,
  dry onion soup mix, and 1/4 cup beer. Shape into 6 patties.
   
  Bake at 400øF. until brown, about 10 minutes. Baste with
  remaining 1/4 cup of the beer.
   
  Continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, until
  well done.
