Let me know, if you don't mind. I have heard the song several ways and in my
opinion the best ways it is performed are solo acapella or by a lone piper.

From the blurb accompanying the recipe: "This is an unusual recipe from
Flavors, the San Antonio Junior League cookbook. The description says that they
were served every year at the Thanksgiving dinner at the Episcopal church in
Brenham, Texas. My father-in-law, who never lets a vegetable cross his lips,
loves this twangy recipe. I'm not a canned green bean kind of person, but I
like these."

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Modern Haggis
 Categories: Offal, Grains, Beef, Chilies, Vegetables
      Yield: 8 servings

      2 lb Liver (almost any kind)
      3 lg Onions
    1/4 lb Beef suet
      2 c  Oatmeal
           Black pepper & salt
           Cayenne Pepper or hot sauce
      2 c  Stock or broth

  Cook 2 pounds of liver with peeled onions for about 20
  minutes.

  Put the liver and onion through a chopper

  Chop suet

  Put oatmeal into a heavy frying pan and stir over fire
  until lightly toasted

  Add chopped liver, onions and suet

  Season to taste with salt & fresh ground black pepper

  Add cayenne pepper or drops of hot sauce as desired

  Moisten with liquid in which liver and onions were cooked

  Put into a large heat-proof buttered bowl, filling a
  little more than half full

  Cover with greased paper, waxed paper or buttered aluminum
  foil

  Tie or press down foil securely

  Steam for about two hours or cook in pressure cooker under
  15 pounds pressure for about 30 minutes

  Takes between 90 minutes to three hours to prepare and cook
  depending upon method of cooking.

  Serves eight.
