I'd not have seen/heard then as I quit attending church services in 1958 when,
instead of answering my questions as to "Why is this (whatever)?" they began
preaching instead of teaching. When I pointed out that Joshua ben Joseph was a
teacher rather than a preacher I got a lot of sputters and cavils winding up in
a self-righteous high dudgeon. So, I set out seeking answers on my own. Haven't
found (yet) any definitive answers ... just lots and lots more questions.

I do feel somewhat vindicated, though. Because such a dynamite hymn, were it in
the Episcopal hymnal would surely have been sung at at least one of the
services I did attend (more than the average bear, I was an altar boy) and I
would/should have remembered such a memorable song.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
  
       Title: Grace & David's 25th Sauce
  Categories: Sauces
       Yield: 3 cups
  
  1 1/2 c  Water
      1 c  Brown sugar
      5 oz Vinegar
    2/3 c  Ketchup
      2 tb Soy sauce
 
MMMMM---------------------TO THICKEN SAUCE--------------------------
      2 tb Cornstarch
      3 tb Water
  
  Cook meat (meatballs,spareribs,pork buttons,chicken
  drumettes etc...) and drain off excess fat (THAT F WORD
  AGAIN).
   
  Mix & heat the first 5 ingredients.
   
  Simmer with meat for 1 hour.
   
  ADD cornstarch mixed with water to thicken.
   
  This treasured recipe was shared with us on David & Grace's
  25th Wedding Anniversary Celebration.
