Ärende: Picnic stuff
====================
Hi Carol,

 > CS> I'm looking hard also at www.bonefishgrill.com (search to Virginia,
 > CS> Virginia Beach). Major yumyum place.

 > There's one in Savannah but we never got to it. Saw one some place else
 > not long ago but I forget where. My vote would be for a local place
 > over a chain.

CS> Can do! I wasnt aware this one was a chain until I hit the website!
CS> It has no 'chain feel' to it here. Maybe we started the chain? The
CS> place was there in 1995 when we arrived and still is.

The one in Savannah always seemed to have a waiting line to get in.
Can't understand why, with all the local places featuring local seafood.
Then, too, there was a Red Lobster there, and one in Honolulu.
Familiarity I guess.

CS> There's an oriental restraunt of local renoun but the problem is while
CS> the food is good, in his group mostof us have lived in Asia or been
CS> there so much, we'd just be comparing the real stuff to them (a
CS> macabre sort of fun but not overall what I bet most want).

We're not that much of experts on Asian. Eaten a lot of Korean but
little other except Chinese. Some of the latter has been good, some
very good and some mediocre, at best. OTOH, German or Italian--we could
do a good job of dissecting. (G)

CS> I want to check the place just on the corner of my street. New,
CS> ethnic 'southern cookery'. They had no price list when i checked
CS> last. May be good, may be horrible. Not big so we'd practically book
 CS> the place ;)

CS> It looked like good plain southern cookery of a sort of african
CS> american bent an as long as i don't have to eat the collards, the rest
CS> should be pretty good st uff and may be unique.

Southern cooking is fine with me. I'd even take your collards, as long
as there was pepper vinegar for them. (G)

 > As long as you get enough advance warning to stock the pantry. But, it
 > won't be quite as bad as your "at sea" time when you were in Japan.

CS> Nope! A week is nothing. I didnt even bother this time as there was
 CS> lots.

And, enough to pick and chose, maybe create something new to surprise
you?

 > > It should; it's served us from time to time when we've had an extended
 > > power outage. One time in HI, I had some lamb shanks on the stove,

 > CS> I remember you telling us about that one! Same grill eh?

 > Same grill. It went to Germany with us, and on 3 camping trips to
 > Switzerland from Germany.

 CS> ;-)

One of the better $25. or so investments we've made.

 > CS> Evil cat ;-)

 > No, mellowing out in her old age. (G)

CS> Ohh, she's gonna rub all over you for that one!

As if I mind. I wish I could have a kitty but................

 > CS> Grrr. Last time though I will ever have to file that way with all the
 > CS> multiple state residencies.

 > We had that fun this year too. Didn't file a NY return as we had no NY
 > income. Did do NC, even tho all the income was tax free. Steve ended
 > up paying $1.00 in "use" tax; it could have been a lot worse. After he
 > finishes school and we move, that'll most likely mean doing the multi
 > state thing again tho.

CS> It;s way worse when it's not both of you in the same state for tax
CS> purposes at the same time. Don is VA all year, i am SC until1JUN then
 CS> VA rest of year.

Why so long for SC? We've never had the separate state issue--we both
had some income in AZ & HI but not enough to file taxes on. I will need
to keep track of my NC income as it's self employment, no formal
paperwork with it.

CS> Idiot 'assumed' most of the income was Don's s we;d do better with
CS> separate. Sent it back. Good thing as i had made a mistake and owed
CS> so sent it back with a check. But here, married filing joint is the
CS> state need and always will be if there is a *severe* imbalance in
CS> income. The one with more incme needs to be able to claim the other
 CS> one. It;s a huge 2,000$ if i can't claim Don.

Big time hassle!
