Hi Ruth,

>>> Just remembered who bought Giant out over here.. It's Weiss. Haven't
>> > You mean Weis as in the chain I see in PA? My maiden name was Weiss
>> (2 s > vs the store with one s). I've never been in one.
>> Yes, that's the one, sorry for the misspelling. It is with one 's'.

> Not a problem; I'm not related to the Weis's that I know of. OTOH, I am
> related to Weiss's. (G)

It's like the Giardino's and Giordano's on the east coast.. I am related to a
number of Giardino's but not Giordano's. The original spelling of Giardino was
actually Giardina, in Italy. The helpful agents at immigration changed it for
Grandpa (g).

>> Good idea :) I often refigerate my bags of rice. Some things seem to

I just use a normal pot with a tight fitting lid.. Never had need to try a rice
cooker, but I see every chinese restaurant uses one. I always thought it was
just due to the amount of rice they cook.

>> > It would be interesting to see what kind of an answer they gave you.

>> Might actually get an answer :)

> If somebody actually knows the answer. Usually Customer Relations and

I'd bet they have some canned answer, given the number of people who won't eat
HFCS. Waiting for a response from them (g).

Yes, you just have to remove some of the 'fat' from the backs, but it tastes
great :)

> before Steve went into the Army that had, IIRC, 10 or more different

Yes, I love the spring and summer because of my garden.. In the fall I don't do
as much gardening as I could if I could stand the chillier weather.

> instead. I used some green beans I got there to do the beans with EVOO,

That's great :) It really is the way I love greenbeans the most. You can serve
them cold, or warm or tepid. I think I like tepid the best.

> No fun not having a working vehicle, especially in an area with no

There is a bus from Windsor to Binghamton that my mom used - you have to call
ahead (I think several days) but I can't see doing much shopping that way.. I
guess if the two of us went we could survive it (bg).. But we got the estimate
today.. about $800+ for a new exhaust system - painful.. Ah well.. what can
you do. Car is in great shape otherwise, so we'll go with the repair and forgo
new car payments. Should be ready in a day or so.

>> Heh.. Toby like jalapeno peppers, I don't know about the puppies
>> (bg).. but I have a spray that does keep animals (cats and dogs) away
>> from things like furniture, and it says it also works on outdoor
>> areas. Maybe tomorrow I will try that.. it's supposed to be near 70 I

> Worth a try. We didn't even get to 70 today but had about half the rain
> fall deficit for the year to date made up yesterday & into this morning.

Ow, that's a bit of rain. We hit 70 it seems about every 3 days (g). It's
about 57F now, supposed to have a high of 65F today - but tomorrow the weather
report is saying we'll have a high of 77F. Think I'll try to get the tomatoes
in the ground tomorrow... but I'll have to get out there before it heats up
that much. I need time to ease into the seasonal changes.

>> > Four kitties drunk on cat nip? I can see it now.

>> haha yes, if they can get to it.. the puppies have been giving them
>> quite a hard time lately. I have to keep correcting them when they
>> chase the kitties.. They know I won't put up with it, so that's good.
>> They think when the chase the kittens, that everyone is having a swell
>> time :( Lulu can't even stand up to them now, they are growing so
>> fast. All I can hope is they will continue to listen to me when
>> they're scolded.

> If you're firm enough with them now they should listen later. If you're
> teaching them basic obedience, they should have "NO CAT CHASING!"
> emphasised.

haha definitely...but now I'm seeing a problem with Sophie so I'm increasing
the training. Didn't have to do so much training quite so early with any of
the labs I've had so I attribute this to the pups being a "mix" (mutt). Sophie
decided that no cats may eat from her dish with her, and if Indy tries (this,
even though Indy is about 3 times the size of Sophie), Sophie lights into him
like there's no tomorrow and growls and chases away the kitties. One might
think, let them deal with it, but I do NOT want a dog that has no control over
himself/herself over his or her food. Especially with grandkids about... Sophie
has never ever growled or acted in any type of negative way with any human
(adult or child), but after having my daughter attacked by a german shepherd
when she was just 4, I just won't take the chance. One way or the other, I'll
get her past this. Thankfully, Indy is just like Toby.. 'who cares who eats my
food' (laugh)

>> I keep checking (grin).. I'm not sure when blueberry season is.. will
>> have to look that up.

> It'll be here in a couple of weeks or so. July, maybe early August up
> there.

Looks like it's June around here.. we'll see if they make it (bg)

Take care,
Janis
