Hi Ruth,

Hmm.. I think I had one of those at one point. Is it a large round one? I
don't remember what kind of "bottom" it had, perhaps a bowl... I only have the
grating "top" now (grin)... but I still used that once in a while, but not
since I got the new grater. I think I might still use it for things like
grating cabbage, etc. because this top or whatever does have a variety of
grating surfaces as you mention yours does.

It sound intereting :) I've never seen one with metal, sounds useful.

>> Yes, that's the truth :) :) It takes up counter space, but I don't

Yes, exactly how I feel (g)... meanwhile, the counterspace is going fast as I
pile things on the center-island (grin).

Sounds good. I use sponge cake recipes pretty often with fruit since that type
cake and angel food cake are Ron's favorite (g). I found a bag of frozen whole
strawberries in my freezer day before yesterday.. (amazing what you come upon
as you use up the contents of a freezer (vbg)), so threw them along with a
chilled can of evaporated milk, some whole milk and sugar and vanilla into my
food processor .. lazy fast ice cream (grin). I'm sure the frozen strawberries
helped it to work (g). I thought about doing it in one of the ice cream makers
but then I would have had to chill the soft-ice cream maker container, or deal
with the large one and tons of ice .. this seemed easier (g).

That's true. And it is very interesting to read about such things.

>> The two newspapers in the village of Warwick are indeed on microfiche.
>> I'm not sure if they are on the web, or accessible via the internet.
>> They may be (g).

> You won't know until you start looking. Just about all newspapers have

It's funny.. Warwick has two newspapers for the village/Township. One of them
lets you browse and read it on the web for free. The other one won't let you
do that unless you have a subscription (who would want a subscription if you
were intending to read it online :) )

>> That sounds so surprising.. I guess I just figured the temperature
>> would make it so reasonable, no one would ever stop growing them.
>> Where do they import from, do you know?

> The Philippines.

Another nice warm spot I guess :) I remember reading at some point that
temperatures in Hawaii were mostly in the 70's but I've never been there so I
don't know how true that is.

> The land was leased and the lease holder wanted to

Understandable afterall.

>> They were very reasonable - I can't remember the price, but I know how
>> much $$ we weren't making then (vbg)

> last visit) on NC Hwy 58 a few miles north of Cape Carteret, NC.

I'm not sure if this establishment is still open. It takes a few hours to get
there from here so it's not something we do often.

>> These were old world Italians who probably would never have changed

Everybody needs a break sometimes, and good Italian restaurants generally do
well whether for weddings or other celebrations. At least around there :) This
area, Binghamton, may have some really good ones, but we haven't been able to
find them yet (not that we get out to them that much, to be honest).

>> I remember being able to turn around in it :) :)

> That's always a good sign. I've been able to turn around in all of our
> but some have been small enough that it only took a few steps to go from

I think this one was about like that IIRC. Very small but at least enough
space to turn around (g).

Take care,
Janis
