Hi Nancy,

>> Btw, we did end up getting a new car. It's funny looking but nice and
>> added bonus, it runs like a charm (vbg). It's 2010 Kia Soul. I told
>> my daughter it reminds me of a little red caboose :) The engine on
>> the Xterra was blown. Ron was so upset with the original garage where
>> we took it to get repaired. At least this new one has it's own dealer
>> warranty should any problems develop. The mechanic at the second place

> That's always helpful. :)

I'll say (VBG). We get in the car, and start it up. It goes. It has satellite
radio (g).. we probably won't keep paying for that past the 'intro'. It's just
like cable tv IMO.. TONS of stations, crummy music (lol) Just kidding.. found a
decent blues station on it, but you can hear good blues and jazz on NPR public
radio any time. There are a couple funny ones we haven't listened to.. the
playboy channel.. now what the heck is that??? Lol.. I'll be happy to just
stick with AM/FM thanks (g).

>> Ron took the Xterra to said he'd be interested in buying the Xterra
>> for $500.00, which we'll be HAPPY to do :) He figures he can take his
>> time and rebuild the engine, something which Ron as a programmer would
>> not want to tackle (bg). It's not as much as we put in the car this
>> month, but who cares at this point! You can't have everything.

> Everytime I see a little more of the story unfold, I keep thinking that
> you guys should really see if you can get at least some of your money
> back from the first garage... If the engine was blown, why put all those
> expensive parts on the car...???

I know. Ron doesn't want the hassle though. He says the guy paid for the
parts, so.. but I feel like you do. Why didn't he call us and let us know what
was going on? Obviously he didn't know that the engine was blown or he didn't
care. Makes no sense to a reasonable person, that's for sure.

>> She'll get there some day and see what it's like first hand no doubt..
>> so probably until then, she just won't care. It's a shame really. I
>> know housing expenses are high these days, but you know there are
>> places where you can cut down to make things work when you have to.
>> She doesn't seem willing to do so, period. She won't give up going
>> out on weekends, for example (meeting with friends to drink and dance,
>> etc.).

> And she probably feels righteous about doing her part to "Conserve"...

Oh yeah, no doubt.

> Too bad she doesn't read the fine print about it being dangerous for the
> elderly and infants to have temps too low... or too hot, for that
> matter. :(

She's funny. She is afraid of her daughters I've noticed (bg). I think the
thought of them treating her someday like she treats Mom is just too much for
her (vbg). I'd say she's feeling guilty plain and simple... but THAT guilty to
allow Mom to control the temps there (g).

>> BC of NY at the time was a great policy to have.. so much better than
>> this policy from Aetna is.. When we go for any blood tests the copay
>> is $50.00, for the neurologist I think it's $50.00.. for General
>> practioner doctor visits it is $25.00. So I figure if a blood test
>> costs us $50.00, a several thousand dollar MRI will be right up
>> there.. :( Besides, since I started getting vertigo, I have a

> Depends on whether it's a copay (which could only be the $50.00) or a
> co-insurance (which is a percentage, probably 20%, of the cost).

Not sure. Think it's a co-pay on outpatient proceedures/testing.

>> vestibular nerve induced kind of panic attack when in 'small enclosed'
>> spaces or dark places (that's pretty sickening to the guts when it
>> hits). Think I'll skip it for now (g)

> Not fun at all. Just for the record, though, they do have what are
> called Open MRI machines now, that aren't nearly so small, enclosed or
> dark. Just a large doughnut shaped machine that you are passed into.
> It worked pretty well for a friend of mine that is quite claustrophobic.
> Still, no point in getting one before one needs to... :)

Yes, I know. My neurolgists don't want an open MRI though. It has to fit
certain conditions and be a closed one to get a good picture of the brain
lesions. Such a thrill (grin).

Take care,
Janis
