====================================================================
Hi Janis,

At a point where I can catch up on Fido again. The dress is ready for a
final fitting & marking the hem on Monday. Tuesday will be a long day
of sewing so I can give it to the young lady that evening. She wanted it
fitted sotighitthatIcan'tbreath in the bodice. We decided to gather the
skirt in back and pin it with a fancy pin instead of taking it off the
bodice to redo that as well.

JK> > I do appreciate her. We had an appointment with another doctor
JK> closer > to where we live but neither Steve nor I felt comfortable
JK> with him. We > felt like he was trying to say that he knew our bodies
JK> (after only one > visit) than we did.

JK> Know what you mean there... We're happy with our gp since he seems to
JK> stay on top of things in general regarding health issues and seems

Good that you found a gp in that area. Does he take veggies in barter?
(G)

JK> pretty sharp. He suggested the neurologist I'm seeing now since he
JK> felt this neuologist was the best in the area. We're both real happy
JK> with him as well. I'd been to a different one in the area when we
JK> first moved back to NY, but I wasn't crazy about his attitude in
JK> general... nor of his office workers.

The office workers on the first dr we visited were great! He was the
one we couldn't tolerate. The one we changed to has office staff as good
as she is.

JK> > Then why did it not get a lot of publicity in the States until the
 JK> 70s?

JK> Perhaps because people weren't aware of it's dangers in this country
JK> until then, I'm not sure. When you think about it, a lot has changed
JK> in the last 30 years :) Just in X-Ray itself, enormous amounts of
 JK> knowlege about
JK> 'side-effects' are now known that say 50 or 60 years ago, were
JK> completely unknown. My mom and dad always felt bad about my oldest

Yes, that's true. A lot of medical knowledge has only come about over
the last 15 years or so. The advances of computerised medicine have
made for better research, tests and trials. A lot can be done virtually
that saves "wear & tear" on anmals and humans alike.

JK> sister's exposure to a lot of X-Rays which were necessary at the time,
JK> but not thought to cause tremendous problems 'back then'. She was
JK> born with both her legs 'curled up'. When she was an infant,
JK> specialists had to break both her legs and straighten them..
JK> naturally, it required a lot of X-Ray proceedures and surgeries. She

Ouch! I think they do a lot with casting and braces now.

JK> From what I understand, the collectors can be installed in crawspace

We've lived in a lot of slab construction places. Made it really
interesting (G) when a pipe from our HI kitchen sink broke and had to be
replaced--jackhammered up the slab to get to it. It was a Priority 1
job tho.

JK> (g). It's just something that I've been aware of since we first
JK> started searching for homes for sale in New York. The first house we
JK> bought was in about 1978 I think.

We took over payments on a double wide mobile home in NC in 1980, passed
it on to someone else when Steve joined the Army in 83. That's the
closest we've been to being home owners.

>> Radon is the second leading cause of _lung cancer_, second only to

 JK> > Interesting; I didn't know all of that.

JK> It can be nasty stuff, that's for sure. IIRC, we're not in the worst
JK> Radon zone.. I think the north west and south east are about the worst
 JK> according to the EPA.

And we're in the south east. (G)

JK> > Ours get used several times a day. We usually heat the water for
JK> our > tea in it in the morning and then various uses thru out the day.

JK> Ron really prefers using the tea kettle for tea. It's funny because
JK> he decided a while back to get a whistling teapot, which drives me
JK> crazy haha.. I swear, the noise it makes reminds me of someone
JK> scratching fingernails on a blackboard (vbg). When I have tea, I
JK> always use the microwave :) I can understand his using a pot to boil

We use the microwave most of the time but if we want to make a pot of
tea, we'll use a pot and boil the water on the stove in a tea kettle.

JK> water though; the water stays hotter longer when you use the stove..
JK> I'm guessing that temperature difference may make a difference in the
JK> flavor when you are steeping tea, but I can't tell (g).

Probably but more likely, it's the little bit higher heat that extracts
the essential oils & flavors faster.

JK> > I'd rather have the more precise but.............. Same as all
JK> > the new ones have discontinued the probe since you can't use it with
 JK> a > turntable.

JK> Is that the reason.. I guess it does make sense.. you can't have it
JK> swirling around while the probe is attached (g).

Sort of makes it hard, doesn't it?

 JK> > Keep it up!

JK> Ron's blood pressure is doing well, which is also good. He's lost a
JK> little weight and that probably helped. The doc will probably either
JK> have him drop that medication or cut down on it, which is great I
JK> think. He's got an appointment this month sometime.

We're going tomorrow for checks on various reasons. Renew
perscriptions, check other issoes, etc.

>> $40.00, not $70 and not $50.. she really did have me write down the
>> amount my copay would be ... now I know why (vbg).

JK> > Good; it sounded like he was planning to pocket $10./month and you
JK> > called him out on it.
