I think that was what was done with my eye, but it only partly
straightened, so I have never had true binocular vision.  I have to
move my head sideways to get an idea of depth.

Did the FAA test her vision, or just rely on medical records?

I would imagine that landing on virgin snow, without any objects to
give a reference would difficult.

I have tried bificals, and thought of tri-focals (distance, computer
screen and newspaper reading) before settling on the graduated.

I was thinking of the old style leg snapping traps that people here
used during the Depression.  "Underground mutton" was sold for 9 pence
a pair by door to door vendors.  I couldn't understand anyone wanting
to relocate live rabbits!

      Title: SCALLOPS WITH BLACK-BEAN VINAIGRETTE
 Categories: Starters, Seafood, Restaurants, Australian
      Yield: 4 Servings
 
     16    Fish- scallops; OR
     16 lg ;prawns, peel/halved
           Ds Olive oil
           Salt
           Black pepper; ground fresh
           Laver/nori; shred finely
    100 g  Leeks;julienned/fried
           Ogo seaweed; OPT
           ; VINAIGRETTE
     50 g  Black beans- salted
     50 g  Shallots; chop fine
     30 g  Ginger root; chop fine
    1/2    Garlic cloves; chop fine
    100 ml EVOO
     60 ml Vinegar- rice wine
  1 1/2 tb Mirin; 2UStb
    1/2 tb Soy sauce- light; 2USts
 
  A mixture of typically Asian seasonings with extra virgin olive oil
  makes an unusual vinaigrette for this excellent appetiser. Although
  the recipe calls for large fresh scallops, raw prawns could be
  substituted.
  
  Whisk all vinaigrette ingredients together and set aside. Clean and
  dry the scallops. Smear a non-stick frying pan with olive oil and
  heat. Sear the scallops or prawns on both sides, taking great care
  not to over-cook them.
  
  Put about 1 heaped tablespoonful of nori onto each plate and top with
  4 scallops or 8 prawn halves. Spoon over a little of the vinaigrette
  and top with a garnish of deep-fried leeks. Spread a little ogo
  seaweed around the base of the scallops if using.
