There is a backpacker hostel in Alice Springs which used to provide a
clean towel and soap and a hot shower to travellers for $4, which I
thought was reasonable.  The alternative was a shower in the bus
station bathroom, but with own towel and soap.  I have used both
facilities in the past, but since the railway line to Darwin was
completed, I have used the showers on the train.

I went camping last year with my NT family, and almost froze to death!
Even though it is still well within the tropics, inland 150 km from
Darwin it gets very cold at night at this time of the year.  I am
returning to Darwin on Saturday (by air); there was talk of going
camping again, but I have refused.

      Title: Malcolm Douglas' Croc in a Camp Oven
 Categories: Alligator, Crocodile
      Yield: 4 Servings
 
           Croc meat, finely chopped
           Tinned paw paw
           Tinned mango
           Coconut cream
 
  Fry croc meat, add mango and paw paw. Pour coconut cream into the
  mixture and gently cook until the meat is tender. Season and serve.
  
  NB. This is intended for our Estuarine Crocodile which routinely grow
  up to 20 feet long - eat it quick - before it eats you! :)
