=================
Hey Ruth!
->
-> -> hn> NYC is too crowded for me. I do like
-> -> hn> going into the city just for the museums
->
-> -> I've only been to small parts of it, mostly when I was younger. The
-> -> kids went in to celebrate their anniversary (13 years) without their
-> -> kids. They ate at a street cart vendor's hot dog stand and Gramercy
-> -> Tavern, enjoying both meals.
->
-> hn> We went into "the city" occaisionally. Mostly
-> hn> when we were on a trip to somewhere special.
-> hn> The museums, Theaters, and such are worth
-> hn> the effort. Anne has gone into the city many
-> hn> more times than I...but her opinion is pretty
-> hn> much the same as mine...neither of us could
-> hn> live there! (grin) Anne has a Cousin who has
-> hn> not been off Manhattan Island in more than
-> hn> two decades and doesn't forsee ever doing
->  hn> it again.
->
->
-> I wouldn't mind a trip or 2 in, with specific plans for what I wanted to
-> see/do. Otherwise, I'd rather stay away. Even smaller cities can be a
-> big pain getting in and around sometimes. One advantage of them tho is
-> that the restaurant choices are wider.
->
I think the restaurant choices in NYC are
as close to infinite as I can imagine! I have
friends who love to go to "The City" and stay
on Manhattan the whole time. I just don't find
large cities that enjoyable. Seattle is an
"almost large" city (grin) and at times THAT'S
too big.

-> -> hn> Did you need their OK? Are they helping
-> -> hn> with the Tuition? Or offering a job when
-> ->  hn> Steve Graduates?
->  hn> ->
-> -> We needed their endorsement as part of Steve's seminary application so
-> -> we like to update the congregation every so often. They aren't helping
-> -> with the tuition--the Post 9/11 takes care of that. But by having an
-> -> endorsement from a Southern Baptist church, tuition is less than if we
-> -> weren't Southern Baptist.  Don't know if we'll have a job offer from
-> -> them but it's too soon to think about that as Steve has another 2 1/2
-> -> years of school.
->
-> hn> Any tuition reduction is valuable and worth
->  hn> having!!
->
-> Yes, very much so!
->
->
-> -> We also want to get some wild Georgia shrimp and maybe stop at the
-> -> Savannah Candy Company down on River Street while down there.
There's
-> -> other favorite "haunts"; maybe we can try to catch a meal at The Lady
&
-> -> Sons if the line isn't too bad. (G)
->
-> hn> My sister in in Charleston this weekend. Evidently
-> hn> there is a tea plantation near there now...didn't
-> hn> know we had tea growing in the americas!!
->
-> I think I first read about it give or take about 15 years ago in the
-> Smithsonian magazine.  I wouldn't mind a tour--in cooler weather.
->
My sister, loves the heat and I mean LOVES!
It seldom gets too hot for her tastes! I can not
imagine me going to Charleston in July...I've done
it before and have sweltered through (too) many
South Carolina summers. I would not mind visiting
in say March, when the weather is actually rather
nice! Same for October...mostly!

-> ->  hn> the navy I'd drink a big can of grapefruit
-> ->  hn> juice every day.
->
-> -> We had grape juice occaisionally when I was a kid, instead of orange
-> -> juice. Mom would make us drink it quick, then she would scoop up the
-> -> glasses and wash them out so the juice wouldn't stain them. Didn't get
-> -> a chance to really appreciate it then.
->
->  hn> I Loooove the stuff..but have it
->  hn> seldom now.
->
-> Same here.
->
-> -> Yes, and most anything could be a treat. While we were at my parents,
-> -> we got some sparkling flavored water. Robert wanted a taste one night
-> -> but didn't like it. Then Sarah wanted a taste--"mo peas" (more please)
-> -> was her reaction. She liked it a lot more than her brother. (G)
->
-> hn> Have not had any of them in a great while
-> hn> and generally prefer water, coffee, or tea
->  hn> when offered.
->
-> We hadn't had any in a long time either. These were Polar brand; we
-> used to buy them when we were stationed at Fort Devens.
->
When Amanda was here, we picked up two small
(17.2 oz) bottles of "Cascade Ice" sparkling water.
0 calories, sodium free lemon lime flavored...basically
carbonated water with some flavoring added. Not bad
but at $1/bottle, I would have been just as happy with
regular water, and perhaps a twist of lime (grin)

-> hn> Amanda is visiting for a few days, she
-> hn> goes back to Calif tomorrow, and I go
-> hn> back to the ballpark. I'm loving having
-> hn> her visit! yesterday we set up a wifi
-> hn> network here at the house so when
-> hn> Annie comes home she can do wifi
-> hn> right here on the couch!
->
-> Spoiling both of your girls. (G) How's Annie's back doing?
->
->
She's in New York so she's suffering mightily
through the heat! She's being careful with
her back and one of her cousin's who's going
to be visiting today is a Doctor so he'll keep
her on track if she needs it (grin)
chat with you soon!
