Ärende: A dinner party.. but you have to work first! :)(3) [2]
====================================================================
Hi Janis,

>> Kids? Try Ron :) :) He's an absolute big fan of pumpkin bread :)

 JK> > The biggest kid? (G)

 JK> You're not kidding (G)

He doesn't seem the type tho--so quet most of the time.

JK> > Steve's birthday is in late October, pumpkin

JK> Ron has his birthday in November :) He did have a rough time with the
JK> heat last week.. felt bad for him.. I'm used to it, I take a couple of
JK> Anacin and I can mostly make it ok.. I also know when to stay in but
 JK> you know..

I try to stay in as much as I can when it's really hot/humid. Some days
are more successful than others. Yesterday we were out to get text
books, church and some shopping after church. Also stopped at Bruster's
for some ice cream cones. (G)

JK> > season. When he was a kid, his mom would carve a jack o lantern,
JK> line > it with foil & fill it with pop corn for his birthday parties.

JK> That's neat :) Bet kids would have lots of fun and good treats with
 JK> that.

I would think so.

>> I always bake my pumpkins (split in half with a long sharp knife) and
>> then it's easy to scrape the pumpkin from the shell.

JK> > I cook them in my pressure cooker--does the same thing. (G)

JK> I like the browning of the pumpkin, and the browing of the juices that
JK> the roasting gives it.. it's a bit more flavorful to me. When I'm in
JK> a rush, I've done it in the microwave for 25 minutes (old microwave

To each her own choice of cooking pumpkin. (G)

JK> > I know, that helps. But, you can find some inexpensive little
JK> widgets > on the wall of odds and ends.

JK> Hehe.. I know what you mean. But I think I could get over-widgeted if
 JK> I wasn't carful Lol

I know; then the local Salvation Army or other thrift store benefits
from your spending.

JK> > If you live near one, it can get expensive.

JK> Yes indeed :) These things weren't cheap, but they sure made my life
JK> easier. There was one right in Louisville. At various times (we lived
JK> there for 7 years or so), I bought that great pot rack in my kitchen,
JK> a pizza stone (gave it to my daughter when I got the ceramic insert),
JK> all of the black cast-iron pots on my wall, a set of Italian import
JK> dishes (individual macaroni bowls and one large macaroni bowl - the
JK> one we used for the ravioli AAMOF (g). Countless cheese graters
JK> (battery and manual).. never could find a good one (g).. coffee
JK> grinders.. and as you mention, when I'd go in there just to browse,
JK> there always would be something neat on the wall (G).

Agreed--and usually something you had to buy & try. I'd like a pot rack
but have no really good place to hang one in this kitchen.

JK> > we had to take off of I-95 at Savannah (coming back from Fort
 JK> Got my KA mixer

JK> Ah.. ok, that's neat that they carried those counter-top appliances as
JK> well. I don't think the one in Louisville did. Every other kitchen
JK> thing you could imagine though (g).

This has quite a few appliances--Kitchen Collection chain, usually in
outlet plazas.

JK> > there; it'll get its first post repair test tomorrow when I mix up

JK> Seems fast! was it, or am I imagining that? Well, I hope it goes
JK> well! Let me know how it goes. Did they charge you a fortune? Just

It went fast; we sent it off the day before we took off and it was
waiting for us (not sure if a neighbor kept it or what) at the door when
we got home. IOW, a bit over 3 weeks but we don't know how long it was
waiting

JK> curious if you don't mind. The only thing I've had repaired by them

Ours cost about $35. for the shipping kit--box, padding and shipping
fees. Then it was about $84. for the parts and labor so not too bad,
over all.

JK> has been the screw-bolt at the top of the mixer, and they sent that
JK> for free. I probably should just send this one in and find out the
JK> cost. Mine isn't making noise like Steve described, but that bowl will
JK> NOT stay in the machine when it gets the least bit of power applied..
JK> like speed ten for macaroni dough for the extruder - bam, right in my
JK> face :( Or making bread.. I really have to limit it to one loaf or
JK> the whole thing jumps out :(

Won't know till you send it in--could be something relatively minor and
inexpensive to repair.

Catch you later,
