well... only one definition showed up and it is in french on wikipedia :shock:

so... a quick french to english translation and i see that the entry only says
that pinklewurst is a german sausage :?

clicking on the link to "german sausage" goes to another fr.wikipedia page that
simply says that "wurst" means sausage :? :?

pinkelwurst pops up 817 english pages...

seems that there's something about a "pinkelwurst and kale" song which also
turns out to be the "hogan's heros medley" :shock:

i finally found something that says that pinkelwurst is a thick, foot-long
german sausage made with beef fat, pork fat, onions, oat groats, water and
spices... best served with kale and/or potatoes...

there's an interesting comment that it seems like haggis, jirtnice, and
pinkelwurst have a lot in common since they are all apparently little more than
grain and "meat" stuffed into a casing... i don't know anything about jirtnice
as this is the first time i've ever heard of it but i have had haggis and it is
quite a bit more than just fats and grain like pinkelwurst is...

one site advertises pinkelwurst $7US for 3/4ths pounds... another at
5.something a pound...

there was one site that came up listing pinkelwurst in the "liver sausage"
category at $7.77US for a 12oz "chub"... the description is "Flavor enhancer
that will dissolve while cooking with kale or other cabbages"...

several sites mention pinkelwurst made by "Karl Ehmer"...

at least one user on one site recommended using bratwurst instead of
pinkelwurst because they knew that most folk wouldn't be able to get
pinkelwurst... somehow, i don't think the end result would be the same as if
pinkelwurst were used ;)

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v7.04

      Title: Easy Pinkelwurst and Kale
 Categories: German
   Servings:  6

      1 ea 28oz can of kale
      2 ea pinkelwurst sausages
      1 md onion; chopped
           water; 2-3 cups
      8    portions of smoked meat or -
           sausage, or krainerwurst, or -
           smoked pork chops, or a -
           smoked butt, etc...

  Peel casing from pinkelwurst and put in saucepan with onions.
  Saute until completely blended. Add kale and 2 cups of water.
  Bring to boil and stir until all ingredients are well blended.
  Reduce heat to simmer and submerge smoked meat into mixture.
  Cover and let simmer for 2 hours, stirring frequently. If
  liquid evaporates too much, add some more water as needed.
  Serve with boiled potatoes and bread.
