It's a lot easier than one would think.  I learned it from someone when
my sister and I managed to pull off a surprise 25th anniversary party
for our parents.  She was staying with a friend at a missionary-kids
house for the summer, and our parents were going down to visit her
there...  So, I went down a day or so before they were to arrive, and we
planned out the meal.  A lady who I guess was a matron of sorts, did
cooking etc, asked me if we'd like to bake some rolls from scratch for
the party... and she taught me with that oatmeal molasses bread.  To our
surprise, it worked out well... AND we managed to pull off our surprise
party the next day, too.. (G)

My body has long been able to compensate very well... not at all wisely,
but way too well... ;)  But many haven't a clue I've been having to, or
am, compensating.  I suspect that's far more common than many realize.

I'm thinking that I might be able to leave home early enough on Saturday
that I could go to the camping by way of the picnic, since I can't check
in at the campground until 3 or after.  I'm toying with the idea of
coming down on Friday, even... not sure if that would work, though...
lots of factors that need to be considered there.  When I want to do
something, though, I can get pretty stubborn and inventive... ;)

Before the family camping was relocated and rescheduled, I had about
talked hubby into coming down with me as a daytrip for Saturday.  But
now I'll have to juggle a few things to make it happen.  We'll see.  :)
A car loaded for a week of camping in a state park, even in a cabin, is
a somewhat different proposition from the mostly unloaded one for a
daytrip picnic, even a cooking one... ;)  And he won't have the whole
week off, so dunno how that's going to work out... two cars maybe?  At
least we have a couple months to figure things out.  :)

That sounds like a nice plan.  :)

If all else fails, I'll just have to camp on your doorstep next time I
want to do a genealogy trip to Norfolk (my grandmother and her sisters
grew up in Norfolk and Virginia Beach and her father and grandfather had
a seed store in Norfolk).  We'll meet SOMEhow...  :)
