worst in both parties? I shudder to think what would happen if
the beloved United and the behated US Air got together (the word
on the street is that it's a 50-50 proposition). I was rooting
for a Continental-United marriage.

Indeed. His description of the Spicy Baconator was enough to
get me to hie to a Wendy's, where I was crushed to discover
that it had been discontinued.

I thought that the cheeseburger in a can might be a fit subject
for Dave's investigations, if he could find any:

Mince and Tatties
cat: Scot, main, burgermeat, cheap,
looks nasty, like shepherd's pie with not so much shepherd in it
Serves: 4

1 Tb oil
1 lg onion, finely chopped
1 lb beef mince (burger meat)
2 md carrots, sliced
1 Tb toasted pinhead oatmeal
water to cover
1 beef stock cubes (or 2)
salt and pepper
gravy powder or cornstarch
4 mealie puddings
1 lb boiled potatoes, peeled

Heat the oil in a pan and saute the onion until it is dark brown. Add
in the mince and cook until well browned.

Add the carrot and oatmeal, mix well and pour in enough water to just
cover. Crumble in the stock cubes, season and stir. Lay the mealie
puddings on top, cover the pan and simmer for 20 min. Once the mince
is cooked remove the mealie puddings and thicken the mince with about
3 ts of gravy powder or corn starch mixed with a little cold water.

Serve these with mealie puddings and boiled potatoes.
