Ugh!  I trust it healed pretty well finally, though?  I suspect that it
still gives you grief every so often... those things usually do.  My
injury (to right leg, and secondarily to left knee) was more recent, but
the residuals don't seem likely to totally go away ever.

It used to be a family... and a family-oriented place.  I went to a
number of those family days when Richard was working there.  And there
were a number of people from his group that would at least yearly get
together with their families for a smaller imformal picnic.  A couple of
us wives formed our own support group, when our husbands were SO
involved in a project that they were pulling all-nighters... (G)  And,
it also used to be that the unions in the area would look to what
benefits Kodak (a non-union place) was giving to their workers before
making their demands in negotiations.  And that, if one got a job there,
anyone could be assured that unless they messed up royally they'd be set
for their whole career.  But that was then...

 RH>> the big name they used to have in the camera industry.

The powers-that-were-once understood the reason, rationale and
importance of research and innovation... then those in charge lost sight
of that, and were more interested in the current bottom line.  Very
short-sighted.  And that was really the beginning of the decline.

I've been trying very hard to not hold on to the bitterness of the whole
situation...  ;/  Have to admit, I'm not holding my breath, either...
but I will still purposively hope the best for them...  Besides, if they
took Richard back for just 6 months, he'd qualify for his full pension,
not just a reduced version of it... and sooner rather than later.. ;>

Yeah, I'll give you that.  :)

An exciting journey... both culinary and overall...  :)

Sadly, no.  It was totally a business trip, and he was part of a 3-man
team that was going over.  After work hours, the host team treated them
to good Japanese food, and there was only minimal time to even pick up
any souvenirs.  At least I had my own trip to go on that week... a
genealogy conference near Philly... and had a friend that was going down
with me.  Good conference... but, had things been different, I'd've
LOVED to go to Japan with him.

I can see that.  :)   I had much the same experience, culturally anyway,
in the genealogy echoes when they were active, especially the
international ones, where there were also posters from various parts of
the world...

That sounds like a pleasant place... I hope that when you return you
will be in better health... :)   We also would go for just about any
thing... it just happens that lately most of it has been Asian or
hispanic... ;)  And we usually tend towards quality food at inexpensive
prices, except for special occasions...  :)
