I think I wrote to you; I'll give you a condensed version as I'm trying
to catch up on about a week's worth of traffic.

Sounds like therapy is needed. I know mine was a different situation but
the doctor that did my initial repair (German facilities; we were in
Berlin) put on external fixation devices. After a couple of weeks for
the initial healing, he started adjuting them every week. It gave me
some range of motion, mostly down, but a bit of upward, so that when the
fixitures were taken off, I could use the wrists a bit.

Have you found a parrafin spa treatment thing yet? I know they were
popular some years ago but don't recall seeing them lately? Also, when
the cast came off, did the doctor give you a wrist brace? If not, why
not?  I still pull one out from time to time for the left wrist; it's
the one that got broken (shattered) worse and being left handed....

The protracter you used to rough measure your Range of Motion is similar
to a therapist's gonniometer. It's like a protracter but has extentions
coming off one side of the bottom (hinged on the other) for measuring
flexibility.  You may never re-acquire full ROM but be grateful for what
you can get.

One thing you will not be able to do for a while, if ever again, is
kneading bread. I tried it a few times after my 2nd reconstruction on
the 2nd wrist (had 2 on both) but it just hurt too much. I can knead a
pizza dough for a couple of minutes but find myself using the right hand
to do more of the work.  So, I've resorted to making that in the bread
machine most of the time too.  The only limitation there is that I can't
decisde to have a pizza and be eating it an hour later--it takes about
an hour and a half just to make the dough in our current bread machine.

Your wrist will be feeling better in time--it will take more time than
you anticipate however.  It will never be the same as it was before the
break but you will be able to use it. I'm glad that I got a 2nd opinion
about mine; one orthopedic doctor said that the only solution was to
fuse the bones.  The doctors at Beaumont Army Medical Center said
otherwise so I've had the use of it the last 15 years that I wouldn't
have had if they'd been fused.
