I hope so.  If you hear anything about consequences of that, I would
be interested to know.

I looked at those sites.  Very impressive!  The pictures do give a
good idea of how far the magnetic field extends, and the poor
standards of the care and operations of such devices.  I suggest that
you and Nancy find out what material was used for your respective
implants, and whether it is ferro-magnetic.  Then, if it is, you will
be warned and be able to stay clear of such machines.  That Nancy
didn't notice herself being drawn into the eye of the machine
indicates that her implant is probably not magnetic - possibly a
titanium alloy or an austenitic stainless steel.

If that screening only responds to ferro-magnetic metals, why do
people take the coins out of their pockets and put in the trays?
(I have just tested my stock of USAn coins, and none is magnetic.
Likewise my cellphone, although the magnet had a strange effect on the
phone screen display.)  I normally don't remove my wristwatch, which
has never set off the alarm.  It is mainly composed of a stainless
steel which is only slightly ferro-magnetic.

I have just been testing my hip implant with a magnet, and as far as I
could judge through a thick layer of flesh and bone, there was a
slight magnetic response.  Now I will have to see what happens the
next time I pass through the airport.

      Title: Iron Rich Quick Bread
 Categories: Bread
      Yield: 1 Servings
 
      1 c  All purpose flour;
      1 c  Whole wheat flour;
      2 tb Wheatgerm;
      2 ts Baking powder;
      1 ts Baking soda;
      1 ts Salt
      1 c  Oats
    1/2 c  Brown sugar;
    1/4 c  Oil;
    1/2 c  Blackstrap molasses;
  1 1/4 c  Water
      1 c  Raisins;
 
  Combine flours, wheatgerm, baking powder & soda & salt.  Stir in oats
  & sugar.  Mix thoroughly.  Add raisins.  Combine oil, molasses &
  water. Add to dry ingredients.  Stir until thoroughly blended.
  
  Turn into greased 23 X 13 X 7 cm loaf pan.  Bake at 350F for 50
  minutes.
