Ärende: firefox problems

There may be something on your confuser that needs tweaked. The only time my
Firefox does that is if it is crashed from outside because I am trying to run
too many tasks at once and they trip over each other. Only then, when I get a
notification that "Firefox is already running ... " do I have to go into
processes and kill off the Firefox.exe, enduring the Micro$not nastygrams and
warnings.

ML> The new version I "upgraded" to is 7.0.1.

ML> 1. Is there a way of finding out what version I
ML> used to have and downgrading to that?

www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html and get v3.6.22 (which is the
latest that worked "right".

I hate it when I let myself get stampeded into "upgrading" and things down work
the way I have very carefully tailored them to work ... and worse, useful
outside utilities *break* on the new software.

I really liked the look and feel of v3.6.xx - so much so that I run it on my
laptop and netbook (Linux). That being said - I run v8.01 on this desktop ...
except I am getting all my bookmarks, etc. moved over to Opera and will soon
make that my default browser. Once again I will say "scroom" to the Mozilla
folkers.

BTW - to do a real job on retrograding to 3.6.xx uninstall using the Windoze
uninstaller, then wipe out the entire directory that is left behind (after
saving your bookmarks and passwords somewhere) else your "old" program will not
have the look and feel it should.

Oh, yeah, disable the update reminders/notifications in your older version of
Firefox else it will nag you endlessly, incessantly, forever more, trying to
browbeat you into "upgrading" because of some mythical "security and stability
issues".

ML> 2. What's gotten into the heads of these developers
ML> and programmers? The thing now chews up 50 Meg of
ML> RAM to start and continues to grab more even when
ML> it isn't called upon to do anything. And that
ML> plug-in container thing that loads with every
ML> plugin and doesn't unload when the plugin goes away,
 ML> inexcusable.

ML> I'm positing Microsoft-paid saboteurs in the ranks
ML> of the programmers. Internet Explorer doesn't have
ML> these problems (of course, Firefox never did before,
ML> for me) and loads into 1/3 the RAM. Whoa there, Mozilla!
ML> When your stuff uses 3x the resources of the Microsoft
ML> product, there's something seriously wrong.

Test fly both Opera and Google Chrome before you give in to the dark side
(Internet Exploder). I prefer Opera over Chrome - but ymmv.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Grand Operas, Nuts
 Categories: Candies, Chocolate, Dairy
      Yield: 12 Servings

      2 c Sugar
    2/3 c Heavy cream
      1 c Milk
    1/4 c Corn syrup
    1/4 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Vanilla extract
      1 c Pecan meats, broken
      4 oz Semi-sweet chocolate

In heavy sauce pan, combine sugar, cream, syrup, and salt.

Heat until sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a
boil, stirring constantly. Continue cooking until candy
forms a soft ball in cold water. Remove from heat and add
vanilla and nuts. Beat until candy thickens and loses its
  gloss.

Turn at once into a buttered square or rectangular pan.

Heat chocolate in top of double boiler until partly
melted. Remove from heat and stir rapidly until entirely
melted. Pour chocolate over candy. Cool until firm and cut
  into individual squares.
