Ärende: back to school

Hi Hap,

And you also. We're down in Florida at my in laws. They live in a
retirement community; I think the favorite thing to do with this group
is eating. My MIL had a house full last night and enough food to feed an
army; tonight we were at one of their friends with more people and more
food. We've had enough calories over the last 3 days to last a week or
more!

She's no longer in the academic world--first time in what, about 25
years? Reality will fully sink in shortly.

Nice! A converted older house? We're looking at the fact that Steve will
finish his schooling in just about a year. Finding a job, moving and
getting re-established will be coming up over the next few months.

 HN> to make the move to Sacramento as well.

Smart move. Is he in the academic world as well or a local who wouldn't
mind moving to Sacramento?

 HN> Yep, she's good at what she does, and she

I'm starting the transition now--only 2 more courses and I'll be done.
But, it will be interesting transitioning out of the academic world, but
easier than the transition into it was. Since I've been so part time
anyway, I shouldn't have much problem. Having the extra free time that
has been taken up with study will be a nice change.

And the kids are probably anxious to have their "real" teacher. Both of
our girls had 3 different 4th grade teachers. Rachel's was due to
classroom rejuggling; Deborah's was because of our move from Frankfurt
to Berlin. Her teacher the first week or so in Berlin was finishing up a
sub job that began at the start of the school year and ran thru the end
of the first quarter. She had Deborah for a few days but was able to
give a creditable review at the parent teacher conference. We also met
the regular teacher at the conference; I think she'd been on maternity
leave or something the first part of the school year.

Sounds like the Mets; they blew enough games by Little Leaguer mistakes
to end up having a(nother) bad year.
