====================================================================
Hi Hap,

-> But no shorts today. (G)

 HN> Nope, but they're ready when ever
 HN> I am!

We hit 80 again today, rest of the week is supposed to be upper 70s. Had
a couple of cool nights (low 40s) but they were probably the last ones
before fall comes round again.

-> HN> and years. Did go out last night
-> HN> and pick up two of KFC's chicken
->  HN> pot pies last night for dinner;

-> Convenience is worth the money spent sometimes. I'm doing it often
-> enough but will bake cakes & bread from scratch, and other things like
-> that. Some things the taste of the home done far outweighs the
-> convenience and what appears to be a good price. Our youth group at

 HN> We're still trying to avoid the extra
 HN> carbs when we can, so no cakes and

We have some, probably more than we should, but usually not as sweets.
Unless something really catches our eyes, we probably won't try to bid
on too many things at the auction. It was fun last year observing the
"back and forthing" of various people over some of the goodies.

 HN> such being made here. Did buy a Trader
 HN> Joe's flourless chocolate tore for my
 HN> birthday cake...but we're eating it in
 HN> small doses!

Happy belated birthday! I've not had a cake in years but Steve usually
takes me out to some nice place for supper.

-> -> Not even if Amanda asked you to do a special one for her?

->  HN> If she asked I'd make a nice
->  HN> styleized "A" for her a bit more
-> HN> "cursive" than my pie marks.

-> And how would you do Anne's?

 HN> Probably the same.

See, you will change, given the right incentive. (G)

 HN> As far as I can remember my
 HN> grand parents did not even
 HN> have a record player...but
 HN> always had a piano in the house.

My folks always had a record player, stereo when it came out. My mom's
dad passed away just before it did but my dad has often speculated on
how much he would have appreciated it. We got a (cut down) piano when I
was in my mid teens--too late to take formal lessons. My one sister
taught herself but my fingers/hands aren't long enough to play
comfortably. OTOH, we had several cats who liked to walk up & down the
keys. (G)

-> HN> My folks played country and western most of
-> HN> the time...I tuned it out as best I could
-> HN> unitl I could buy my own radio and tune
-> HN> into stations that I wanted to hear.

-> Takes all kinds to make the world go round.

 HN> Yep, and they can listen to theirs and
 HN> I'll listen to mine.

Does your mom still listen to it? How's she doing these days?

-> -> HN> Never know for sure! The benefit is
-> -> HN> that you can go where your heart calls
-> ->  HN> you to go.

-> -> Now we can, as long as there's a job in that area as well. We're not
-> -> ready to settle back in our rockers full time yet.

-> HN> True, but you could survive on Steve's
-> HN> retirement income if you wished to do so.
-> HN> Which gives you the liberty to follow your
-> HN> heart to wherever you wish to look for that
->  HN> job.

-> As we will be doing. Will consider factors like cost of living, access
-> to medical care, etc, etc as well. Should start the ball rolling on all
-> that in about 6 weeks.

 HN> Yup. Since you'll be on Tricare
 HN> wherever you go it's no longer
 HN> as essential to be near a military
 HN> hospital...but it's nice to have

We need to find doctors who will take Tricare Prime; Standard and Extra
cost too much for us as they're both point of service (more expensive)
payments. We had quite the time finding a new doctor this past fall
because most of them in the WF/Raleigh area did not take Prime--did
finally find one in Raleigh that did. Other choice would have go over
to Chapel Hill & get into the UNC system for everything (I see some
specialists over there now.) but that's further to go for appointments.

 HN> a good exchange and commissary to
 HN> shop at!

We've missed them, especially the commissary, but have (sort of)
adjusted. I pay a lot closer attention to grocery ads now but we also do
a lot of our shopping at Whole Foods which fits the way we eat more so
than the commissary did. Do miss a lot of the "one stop" availability of
the PX at times.

->  HN> I think I'll wait until Michael's next
-> HN> visit and we may make a BBQ safari for a
->  HN> day or two!

-> Sounds like fun. If I figure right, he will be visiting shartly after
-> Steve starts his last semester of school work.

 HN> Don't know when he'll decide to visit.
 HN> We always manage to have a fun time though!

Reading the write ups, it sounds like you do have fun.

Catch you later,
