further mental, ethical, or social development is likely to be a

The latest stupid brother trick.

I told him that I thought we should economize, so he went to
the grocery and got chix breast tenders, two packs, okay,
I can't sneer too much at this, but one of the packs was $5/lb
and the other was $3/lb, otherwise equivalent, nay, identical.
Brand the same, dates the same, package weights similar, and
on inquiry it turned out that there were ample supplies of
both. I asked the obvious question and was greeted with the
clever response "I didn't think about it."

He cooked one of the packages and was kind enough to offer me
some, to which I answered, thanks, I'll have a little. So he
gave himself I believe 11 pieces and me one. Just as well, as
he'd burned hell out of it, deglazed the pan with plain water,
and sprinkled the lot with MSG. I was lucky to get out with
just one. Sort of sad: if you took me and him and averaged us,
you'd get two average cooks. At best.

No, here's the latest. He said he wanted some of my chili,
and I said okay, but trade me some of your ramen (he puts
chili on ramen). So he asked, which is easier, do I split
the ramen before or after cooking? I said, before is probably
easier, given the nature of ramen as a hard brick. Upshot.
He offered me 1/2 a pack of ramen, which was fine, until I
discovered that his normal serving for himself is 2 packs of
ramen, and he gave himself 1 1/2 packs. Why he decided I
should get 1/3 of what he eats I don't know. Perhaps I should
say, okay, here's my cup of chili, and here's your 1/3 cup.
How much does he save vis a vis giving him his normal serving
and me my normal serving? At full retail, 14c. On special, 5c.
Avoiding derision and hunger of brother, priceless.

No, here's the latest. He wanted to know what I've left him
in my will. I told him that was private (I did leave him
something, tangible rather than cash, so less easy to squander),
whereupon he said that unless I left him enough he would write a
will leaving everything to a particular right-wing cause that he
finds dear but is quite objectionable to me. I said I didn't care.
Little does he know that there will only be a couple tens of
thousands of bucks in my estate, total.

Sorry for the vent, but it's clear why he (cheeks atremble) told
me a few months ago that he can count the number of his friend on
one ... finger. Oddly, it turns out this friend is of the female
persuasion and is named Natalie. 

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v7.07

      Title: Strawberry/peach Baked Dessert
 Categories: Desserts
   Servings:  8

MMMMM----------------------------FRUIT BASE---------------------------------
      2 c  Strawberries, sliced
      2 c  Peaches, sliced
    1/4 c  Whole wheat flour
      1 tb Lemon juice
    3/4 c  Sugar
    1/2 ts Cinnamon
    1/2 ts Nutmeg

MMMMM-----------------------------TOPPING----------------------------------
      1 c  Whole wheat flour
    3/4 c  Brown sugar
    1/2 c  Dry oatmeat
    1/2 c  Melted butter

  Combine and blend all ingredients for fruit base, put into 8" square glass
  baking dish.

  Make crumb mixture of topping ingredients and sprinkle over fruit.

  Bake at 375 F for up to 35 minutes.  Check at about 25 minutes.

  The topping should be light brown on top, do not burn.

  Can be served with whipped cream, sour cream or yogurt on top.
