That was then - when I was young and bulletproof. And dumb. I thought I was
having fun by "dancing faster".

Nope - although my maternal grandfather owned a farm he never worked it - he
was a fireman on a railroad (steam era) and a hoisting engineer (operator) in
the coal mines. My dad was a hoisting engineer in the coal mines until coal
mining pretty much died around here. Then he ran lumber yards until his death.

BTW - milk cows do NOT have to be milked at any certain time. Just so long as
they are milked every 12 hours or so. That 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. stuff is down to
the farmer wanting to do it at those times. Mostly from milking the cows to
eating breakfast then working around the place (in the fields or whatever) with
time out for lunch until milking time just before supper. Then eating supper
and falling into bed to get up and do it all again the next day.

I do OK for sleep - unless the pain from the osteo-arthritis wakes me up. Lat
night was a dandy and I finally had to give in and take a couple Tramadol to
make it lie down so I could finish my nap. I don't like to take pain killers as
I am frightened of becoming habituated to them.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Farmer's Omelet
 Categories: Eggs, Pork, Herbs, Potatoes
      Yield: 2 servings

      4 md New potatoes
      2 sl Thick-cut bacon
      4 lg Eggs
           Salt & black pepper
    1/2 tb Olive oil
    1/2    Red bell pepper; in thin
           - strips
           Several thin slices of red
           - onion
      1 tb Unsalted butter
           Chopped parsley or chives;
           - garnish (opt)

  Traditional versions use cut-up ham rather than bacon, so
  that's an option too.

  Place the potatoes in a small saucepan and just cover with
  water; season the water well with salt. Bring to a boil
  and cook until tender, 18-20 minutes. Drain and set aside
  to cool briefly, then slice thinly (you can peel them if
  you like).

  Cook the bacon in a frying pan until crisp. Drain on paper
  towels and let cool, then chop into bite-size pieces.

  While the potatoes and bacon cook, place the eggs in a
  medium bowl and beat well with salt and pepper to taste.

  Heat the olive oil in a 12-inch nonstick pan over medium
  heat. Add the pepper and onion and cook until softened,
  3-5 minutes. Add the potatoes and brown briefly, about 1
  minute. Season the vegetables with salt and pepper.

  Add the butter and allow to melt, then swirl it around
  with the vegetables until the bottom and sides of the
  pan are coated. Spread the ingredients out evenly, then
  drizzle the egg over the top so it covers the entire
  bottom of the pan. Sprinkle the bacon over the top, and
  reduce the heat to medium-low.

  Allow the eggs to set, occasionally lifting the sides and
  tipping the pan to allow uncooked egg to go underneath,
  about 5 minutes.

  Serve immediately garnished with the parsley or chives.

  Serves 2
