Actually, the 2nd computer was a 286. Steve bought it at a military
surplus sale at Fort Huachuca 10 1/2 years after getting the C-64 in San
Angelo, TX. IIRC, we bought the C-64 at either Sears or K-Mart; I think
the latter. It had a datasette instead of a disc drive and he had to
type in programs for it. He also used the tv instead of buying a monitor
which meant we couldn't watch tv while he was on the computer.

Just going from the 1200 baud modem to the 286 made a world of
difference! The phone line wasn't tied up as long, which made a couple
of teen age girls happy. (G)

That was Michael's comments. I use a small lap desk and net book. The
lap desk is actually a cooling fan but is a nice size for my set up.

Most of our systems have been cobbled together from various sources but
Steve bought a brand new desk top set up while we were in Savannah. He
usually took parts from here & there, passing along to my set up as he
upgraded his desk top until I went with using just a net book shortly
after moving up here 5 years ago.

Your tastes are a hybrid of Michael's and mine, which is what's fun
about the echo. Are you going to try cooking something for the picnic
again this year? We're debating between several things, haven't quite
decided which to do yet.
