That just messes up the lineage on its own... (G)  That's how one gets

We are still using a stove from the 50's (GE)... came with the house,
and hasn't died yet...  Had to replace the element for the bake unit in
the oven, multiple times even, but it's working fine now, as are at
least two of the four burners of the stove.  And so far the pushbuttons
haven't broken either...  I keep thinking that something irreplaceable
will go, but so far, not at all...  :)

The fridge that came with the house when we bought it, almost 40 years
ago, died shortly after we moved in... it was the same vintage as the
stove, I think...  We got an Amana that lasted about 35 years, so only
recently bit the dust... When we went to replace it, we were told by the
salesman at the appliance store not to expect the new one to live
anywhere near so long...  rather dismaying...  I think we may have made
choices that could enhance its chances for a longer life, got it without
any of the bells and whistles, ie, no ice cube maker, no water or ice
dispensers, etc...  Just a top freezer and a refrigerator with shelves
and drawers... :)

We haven't used it in forever, but I think that the ancient 50's
GE dishwasher that also came with the house still works... it's a
portable, and needs to be hooked up to a sink... which is part of why it
hasn't been used in yonks...  :)
